The UK has entered its third heatwave this year with temperatures expected to climb as high as 35°C in some areas later this week. The Met Office said that South East England has now officially met the heatwave criteria, after three days of temperatures above 28. Temperatures are set to continue to rise across the UK throughout the week, and more regions are likely to reach their local heatwave thresholds.

Temperatures are expected to rise as high as 38°C tomorrow, and the leader of a firefighter's union warned yesterday that the country faces a 'national emergency' due to multiple ongoing wildfires. The government says it is conscious that farmers and NHS staff are also under pressure as a result of the weather.
