Many involve weapons, drugs, or people out of control. In 2023, over half of the city’s domestic violence homicides involved a gun or knife. Expecting an unarmed social worker to walk into that kind of danger is not compassionate, it’s reckless. They are trained to help, not to fight or defend themselves. Insanity.
