Today, Peter Obi visited an IDP camp in Durumi, Abuja, to celebrate Sallah with hundreds of women and children, who have been internally displaced due to the security challenges in the country, and now struggling to survive. These citizens do not have access to healthcare or basic education and have been faced with endless hardship. Yet, in the midst of it all, they celebrated Eid El Fitri with resilience and unwavering hope. No child should live without learning and no mother should endure pains, sickness or pregnancy without medical care. We celebrated Sallah with them today, but true celebration comes when every Nigerian has the basic dignity of life. It is time to rebuild, it is time to get a better Nigeria. The harder question and the only one that matters is this: compared to actual, existing alternatives, who has done better? I am not claiming the West is perfect. It is not. No society is. But if you are honest about measurable progress on rights, equality, and self-correction, it is still ahead of every other major system in the world today. So stop asking "is it perfect?" That is a childish question. Ask: "compared to what?"

It started with laughter, continued with tears and ended with warm smiles. This is impact. Miss Rogers and her mother have faced more than their share of hardship. Serious illness, disability, and years spent in conditions that no one should have to endure. Yet they never gave up. This week, through the New Social Housing Programme, we handed them the keys to a safe, comfortable home where they will begin a new chapter filled with dignity, stability, and hope. This is the heart of the work we do. To lift Jamaicans out of substandard living conditions, to give our most vulnerable citizens the chance to live in comfort, and to ensure that no one is left behind. Every home we build is a statement that Jamaica cares for its people.
