I can’t recall a single lesson on socialism or communism in the entirety of my schooling, from start to finish. And I didn’t even go to government schools. And I’m sure it’s only gotten worse since I was in school. I don’t know how it used to be before my time, but my generation and younger didn’t get properly educated on this subject, and that’s at least partially to blame for the rise in socialism. I guarantee you your average American—especially under a certain age—can’t tell you why socialism and communism are bad. We learn about the horrors of Nazism, Hitler, and the Holocaust, but the rest of the education is sorely lacking.
