New Year's Day (U2) was released on this day in 1983

Not really a fan of U2 but I really like this song and "Sunday Bloody Sunday".

"Nothing changes..."

Was working at a college student-run radio station when I came across the 78 (remember those). Played it. I might have been the first person to play this in Ohio.

I was a sophomore in college. It was a revelation when I first heard New Year's Day on campus radio.

Back when they were still good.

Imagine listening to War and then falling asleep for a decade or so à la Rip van Winkle and waking up to hear Zoroopa and being told it's the same band...

This is the first song I ever heard from U2. And still the best song I've ever heard from U2

Good old days.

Arguably the best U2 song ever

The piano solo has my heart 🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻

There I was, digging out of a Boston snow storm with my Walkman on & this song came on and I heard the chugs-chugga of the Edge’s guitar and thought, “Who are these guys?”

Brilliant song. One of the decade's finest. @JVMonte2

They were good ,

I always loved this song.

Masterpiece

Damn, please stop reminding me of how good U2 was in the 80s and early 90s before it all went to shit with Zooropa.

This and one are the best songs u2 made

War is my favourite 80's U2 album.

Bass leads Drums - both Locked Bass and Keys riff make the song. Great Production

When they were at their best. Great memories !

Bought it on the day

I thought it was released on new year's day.

Although I had already 2 singles of them.......This number made it clear for me. U2 fan forever. After that I bought Boy and October. U2 became under my skin. Now I am already 42 years further.

Their Best Album

There best album. .

👍 awesome

Played it before every intramural game I played in college

All is quiet

I rate "New Year's Day" as the #1 best single and video of 1983. Rock on!

It's great to see the beginning of it all

Loved U2 right upto Achtung Baby I didn't dig them after that

@CorazonOceanico I will be with you again

Hell yes!!

Woke U2

Awesome song! And they just kept getting better and better🤩
