New York in the 1940s when every photo looked like a movie scene and everyone walked like they had urgent jazz to get to.

When I was a kid my parents told me that people used to get dressed up to go to the movies in NYC because many of the theaters were beautiful historic old theaters. It was an “event” to go to the movies which of course included going out to dinner before and dessert or drinks after.
