New York City needs more space for pedestrians - especially in highly congested areas. My new legislation would require DOT to create 1M sq ft of pedestrian space annually around congested subway and bus stops to improve safety and so we aren’t stuck behind that slow walker.

I joined NY’s Cutest on the Bergen Bike Bus that they ride to school every Wednesday, rain or shine. We’re adding bike boulevards and more pedestrian space on Bergen and Dean Street, from Court Street to East New York Ave. It was a wonderful kind of day.

Mamdani Unveils Plan to Redesign Park Avenue, Expanding Pedestrian Space and Greenery Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the NYC Department of Transportation have unveiled proposed redesign concepts for Park Avenue between East 46th and East 57th Streets, aiming to improve safety, increase green space, and enhance the pedestrian experience. The plan would remove one travel lane in each direction and expand the median to include seating, plantings, bike lanes, and new crosswalk connections. Officials say the project is designed to “put the park back in Park Avenue” while balancing the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, with adjustments such as dedicated turn lanes to maintain traffic flow. The redesign coincides with ongoing MTA work to rehabilitate the Grand Central Terminal train shed below, and city officials are gathering community feedback as they refine the proposals. If I were a New Yorker and I could still vote in that state, that is who I would be choosing for Governor of my state… It is one of the great states. Eric and I lived there for so long and were residents of New York City and New York State. Sadly we have left because of the bad policies of people who seem to hate the residents of New York. I would love to see her as Governor, absolutely.”

Let’s be honest, putting “I Love New York” on a t-shirt these days is basically like putting “I Love Socialism.” With the World Cup fast approaching, my “Jersey Pride Tax Credit” will create a 25 percent tax credit for businesses that sell New Jersey-branded products and require priority retail space in major transit hubs for businesses that showcase products that promote New Jersey.

Starting Monday, you’ll see buses hitting the streets with brand new technology! 🚌 We are replacing exterior mirrors on our new buses with cameras and digital interior mirrors – providing operators with a brighter, clearer view of vehicles and other road users traveling behind and alongside the bus. We’ve also added additional collision avoidance sensors and warning systems to help operators better identify and avoid pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and more. These innovative tools help us modernize our bus fleet and improve safety for all.
