"We do adoption events every month. Yesterday was our biggest one. Forty-two dogs found homes. It was a wonderful day. Winston did not find a home. He is eleven years old. He is large. He is silver-gray and his whole muzzle is white and his eyes are the color of a winter morning and he is the gentlest dog I have ever put on a leash. He sat in the same spot for six hours. He did not pace. He did not bark. He watched every dog around him get chosen and he wagged his tail for every family that walked past him without stopping. Every single one. For six hours. At 5pm when the last family had left and the last car had pulled out of the parking lot I turned around and Winston was sitting at the edge of the empty lot wagging his tail at the space where the people had been. I sat down on the asphalt beside him. I put my hand on his silver back. He leaned into me. I don't have a word for what I felt. I have worked in rescue for nine years. I have never sat on a parking lot asphalt at the end of a failed adoption event and felt so completely undone and so completely certain simultaneously. Undone because he deserves everything. Certain because he is going to be okay. Both at the same time. Both because of him. He wagged at the empty parking lot. That is who Winston is. That is who he has been every day of his eleven years. Share this for Winston. He wagged at the empty parking lot. The least we can do is find him someone to wag at who stays.

Breaking: Mike Pence has just announced that he is suspending his campaign for president of the United States effective today. Clearly, the Republican Party didn’t like the fact that he stood up for democracy and wouldn’t help overthrow a free and fair election. While I do not agree with the vast majority of his political ideologies, I can say that he did appear to care about democracy.

Bernoulli was playing with his super annoying chicken toy (which is his favourite) which he noticed Ginger sleeping in her chair. He stopped playing, looked at her, looked at his toy and then brought it to her on the chair. Sadly we only caught the end of the video. Bernoulli seemed to be confused why she wasn’t playing with it and went over to show her that it squeaks when you bite it. It is so amazing that animals of not the same species have compassion for each other. Yes, Bernoulli mauled Ginger when he was a puppy, but now Bernoulli sees Ginger as his friend. If he grows up to be anything like Bunsen, Bernoulli will protect that cat with his life. Why? Beating within a Berner, no matter how much of a goober they start out as, is the heart of a kind hero.

EPS has become the embodiment of the saying: “Thaanum padukka maattaar, thalliyum padukka maattaar!” When EPS allotted losing seats to the BJP in an attempt to finish the party for good in Tamil Nadu, he believed he could form an ADMK government with a simple majority and permanently marginalize the BJP as a political force. After doing virtually nothing for 4½ years as the principal Opposition Leader, he tried to project himself as the primary anti-DMK force and expected people to vote for him purely based on the traditional DMK–ADMK five-year cycle. That backfired too. Vijay emerged as the fulcrum of the anti-DMK movement. After his disastrous defeat, instead of acting like a statesman by supporting Vijay, forming a coalition government, and becoming Deputy Chief Minister, EPS allegedly tried to crawl back to the CM’s chair through backdoor negotiations with the DMK. That too backfired. Nobody trusted him. When his CM ambitions collapsed, he reportedly tried to stop his own MLAs from supporting Vijay during the floor test. That backfired as well. His own MLAs have now abandoned him for good. Yet, EPS still does not seem to realise that he has lost his relevance in Tamil Nadu politics. Perhaps it is a toxic combination of ego, insecurity, and an inability to understand the seismic shift taking place in modern politics and the expectations of Gen Z voters. On June 1st, Romeo was arriving at work when he was wrongfully taken by ICE. They did not ask his name, did not provide any documentation, and would not give information as to why he was being arrested. According to one of the ICE workers, after the fact, he was not who they were looking for, and despite his having no criminal history, he is still being detained somewhere. The GoFundMe is to help his family be able to afford a lawyer so that he can get the legal help that he deserves and needs. 👉
