More questions than answers, is the general feeling across the country today, as footage circulates online 'allegedly', of the incident that caused the closure of Ireland's largest mosque, last Saturday. The footage clearly shows members of the Irish police force, An Garda Síochána, trying to restore order, which they had previously denied any involvement in. The Islamic cultural center of Ireland (ICCI) released a notice that it would remain closed until a full investigation into the incident was complete and security protocols were implemented. The notice was also placed on the locked gates describing it as an "unprecedented attack on our mosque, center and members of the board" This center, along with many others across the country, has been subject to heavy surveillance by government agencies along with the involvement of the US state department and counter terrorism unit (NCTC) for its close ties to the Muslim brotherhood and alleged links to 'Islamic extremism'. These latest developments, along with a clear lack of accountability and transparency from government officials, are creating very uncertain times for people right across the island of Ireland.
