Newly released data from the CDC shows more children than ever are being diagnosed with autism. Dr. John Torres joins us with more details and takeaways.

@DrJohnTorres As a parent of 2 asd kids I can safely say there aren’t any more autistic children. They are simply being identified and helped. Autism when I was a child was seen as naughty kids,who are now adults who missed out on a lifetime of understanding and ways to cope with their worlds.

The CDC says not only are more cases of autism being diagnosed, but there’s a shift in who’s being diagnosed too. @DrJohnTorres is here to break it all down.

@DrJohnTorres Wowsers! I was born in 1978, and diagnosed with a mild form of autism as a toddler. Back then, 1 in every couple thousand children were diagnosed with autism. By the way, I created an artwork picture of the Autism Awareness Cowbell back in 2019. #AutismAwareness

@DrJohnTorres I happen to be #ActuallyAutistic and I find it appalling that so many people in America (particularly those who are politically conservative) spew hate towards the autistic population and want us dead. We just want acceptance and better support & accommodations #AutismAcceptance
