And if anybody can come up with a correlation or, even more important, causation between devolution and growth, I’d like to see it! Because I see none.” “If devolution meant economic growth then Scotland and Wales would be economic miracles. Instead Scotland is becoming an economic backwater and Wales has consolidated its position under devolution as one of the poorest regions in Europe. So where’s the correlation?” Something tells me Mr Andrew Neil isn’t buying these grand devolution plans at all, and he’s got one or two questions he’d like to put to the PM-in-waiting 😂
