Almost as if NVIDIA is seeing the same future as Elon and Tesla. If NVIDIA is a 3-5 Trillion company for making the chips, what is the company delivering the robots and self driving cars valuation? Certainly not less 😂😂😂

One of the coolest takeaways from Nvidia's Huang at CES was the solution for the data scarcity in humanoid robotics. He talked about generating billions of synthetic data points from just a sliver of real-life data. unlike autonomous cars where we've got endless real-world driving data, humanoid robots don't have that luxury. This approach to using synthetic data could leapfrog us into new realms of robot capabilities, making the future of robotics not just feasible but fantastically innovative.

How will Nvidia roll this out to 10 different companies with 100 different models all at once? Tesla had the advantage of starting out on just a few cars with cameras in the same location. Seems like it will be easier for Tesla to adapt something that's nearly perfected on a few cars out to others. Not sure how Nvidia catches up but I think the competition is healthy even if my shares suffer tomorrow.

OpenAI is building its AI into humanoid robots. The company just invested in Figure and signed a collaboration agreement to develop next-generation AI models for robots. Embodied AI is coming in 2024. But there's more: Figure also raised $675M at a whopping $2.6B valuation (while only being founded in 2022!) On top of OpenAI, new investors include Jeff Bezos, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Intel, OpenAI, and more.

It wasn't closing because it's quite an ambitious chip design, and it really wasn't on a path to success. And then we also had the Dojo program, which was doing okay but not on a path to be competitive with NVIDIA. So I collapsed the two programs into just one program, which is to get everyone focused on the AI5 chip, which is essential. Continue to use NVIDIA for training, but we need the AI5 inference chip, which is a very powerful chip, but it's also a very low-power chip. So it doesn't use a lot of power. Its performance per watt is extremely good. I think it's probably going to be at least 2 to 4 times better than NVIDIA performance per watt at the inference level in the car and the robot. Within the next 5 years, hundreds of humanoid robots will be deployed in Schaeffler's global factories, with beta versions first implemented in 2026–2027. Schaeffler is also becoming the preferred supplier of joint actuators for the humanoid wheeled platform and is jointly exploring next-generation actuator architectures with its partner. More importantly, the two companies will collaborate deeply on data and skills: continuously accumulating real-world manufacturing data through teleoperation, synthetic data, and peripheral data acquisition robots to train AI models, enabling humanoid robots to learn faster and perform more reliably in the factory.
