Honestly we need more of this. Tesla has zero competition for autonomous features on the Tesla. They can charge $100 for FSD because they're the only game in town. More competition will bring the prices down for what we all really want (Tesla FSD).

Autonomy for more is only a good thing, it’ll make our roads safer. The pricing is a bit strange, the monthly is high for how “cheap” the buyout price is, but nonetheless this is all good news.

I guess licensing FSD hurts their ego so much that they’re willing to burn billions building something they know is inferior.

I applaud them for going into autonomy, this will save more lives. I will ask though, what happens when Tesla proves you do not need any of these other sensors or lidar that Rivian and others say you need?

i'm sorry, but they should just license tech from Tesla instead of trying to do it. If after using Tesla tech they want to create their own, sure. but don't create another unproven solution.

Literally everyone is sprinting away from lidar radar moving towards a camera only model …… what does rivian do?? Finds that crutch 🩼 to lean on …. Seriously what are they doing?

This is the equivalent of selling a DVD player in 2025… the technology is already YEARS behind.

The $50/month option is interesting because it lets customers try before committing, lower barrier to getting people using the system.

I hope with this price Tesla will have to decrease theirs. I have a free year on my Cybertruck and have been using 14.2 about 70% of my drives now, and it's really amazing, but I don't know if I can afford $1200 a year, so I may only get it on occasions when my free year expires.

$50 a month for basic Autopilot?! 😂 That’s insane—while Tesla’s already cracked full end-to-end FSD. These guys are straight-up clowning at this point 🤦‍♂️

I get that the program is going to be $2,500 but what about all the extra lidar equipment? How much more will that put on the base price of one of these vehicles.

Dang $50 a month? Maybe that will pressure Tesla to lower their FSD subscription because if they offered it for $50 so many people would buy it

If you assume equivalent functionality, it's much more sensible pricing than Tesla. Tesla's monthly is too high for most people as an ongoing cost, and the one-off price is crazy to have it tied to a single vehicle (unless you get lucky with a migrate offer when upgrading).
