GOODBYE TO MATRIC ONLY The SAPS is finally modernizing its recruitment and training strategy. Now meet the highly skilled qualified professionals within the SAPS. 34-year-old Constable Tebogo Rafapa, a crime prevention officer attached to the Diepsloot police station. He holds an Honours in Forensic Science and Technology 33-year-old Constable Martin Van Der Westhuizen is a qualified SAPS drone pilot stationed at Lyttleton police station. He is currently deployed to OPERATION VALA UMGODI. 28-year-old Constable Kelebogile Mapheto is stationed at Kempton Park police station. She holds a BSc degree in Biochemistry and Psyiology. She is currently working in the Community Service Centre(CSC) also known as the charge office. Mapheto is a three time comrades finisher and recently completed the 98th comrades marathon. The SAPS’s reliance on employing large numbers of matriculants as its primary recruitment strategy is outdated and does not deliver all the skills that the SAPS requires. The SAPS is now introducing reliable and effective systems for vetting, selection and training of new recruits. They are now investing substantially in the recruitment of highly skilled and specialist capabilities to support public safety priorities.
