NEW Students at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine react to Dr. Ruth Gottesman’s announcement that starting in August the medical school is tuition free. Also, students who paid their tuition this semester will be receiving a reimbursement.

Hopefully, this will create more physicians, increase access to care, and reduce the time to appointments.

Dr. Gottesman, what an amazing thing to do!

Two edged sword. Great for the current students. It will be incredibly difficult to get into the school now with applications probably sky rocketing.

But what happened when she told them that she’s Jewish?? Did they refuse it??

Imagine if all colleges did that so being a future doctor/teacher/leader/etc. was an equal opportunity.

@RyanGirdusky The top 25-50 colleges could all do this. Their endowments are large enough.

An inspiration!

@Freeyourmindkid Being a healer is a calling. It shouldn't saddle people with debt to become a doctor just as getting medical care shouldn't bankrupt us. This is a step in the right direction.

This is amazing. These students will get paid so little in residency. They won’t make full salaries until later in life than most and the fact they won’t have loans means they can start investing in their futures sooner.

Give it 50 years and people will be protesting against her name for being a “Zionist”
