This group of soldiers was jumping out of a military aircraft with the door wide open high above the ground. They were stepping off the ramp one by one into freefall with their parachutes ready while the rest of the team watched from inside. They look completely calm and professional as they leap out over the clouds and countryside below. I give them props for making it look so easy up there, would you ever jump out of a plane like that?

Since yesterday evening, I've been grappling with deep depression due to the videos emerging from Sednaya Prison and other detainees prisons. I can't avoid watching them because we have a responsibility to document this history and show the world the kind of regime we are fighting against. The two videos I found suitable for my English-speaking audience, without being too overwhelming, feature two gentlemen who were liberated yesterday from Sednaya Prison's Red Section. Both have lost their minds and memories due to torture. The first gentleman was identified by his family; he was arrested 13 years ago while traveling by bus from his pro-revolution town to Aleppo for a medical university exam, and they had heard nothing about him since. #Syria

Despite the double-digit loss, Australia found themselves in the game late after a huge three by Reyne Smith (video attached) putting them within two points. There are Bernie-endorsed socialists and iconoclastic centrists. Some are eyeing a national stage, others are staying adamantly local. Some already have a decade of experience; others are fresh upstarts proving themselves. We spent months talking with professionals who recruit and support young candidates to identify the party’s next generation, and we called dozens of political operatives, consultants, and strategists—and granted them all anonymity so they could dish about the nominees candidly. The nominators didn’t all agree, and, of course, had their own perspectives and agendas, but through those conversations, we found the 25 most promising rising Democratic leaders who have yet to become household names. Armed with our list of politicians under 40, photographer Elinor Kry hit the road in a minivan to meet and photograph a dozen or so of the next generation of Democrats. Jerry Ross was driving when he pulled up behind a group of 10 cyclists in the road. He began honking and heckling the cyclists, and one of them started filming. Ross then sped around them while laying on the horn and hit 2 of the cyclists, causing minor injuries, before driving away.
