I've heard about horse races being interfered with by Possums, Dogs, Cats, Kangaroos, Gators, Bees, Geese, naked men, but thousands of moths, thats a new one.

Looks like @Fudpacker82 opened his wallet again . That’s twice in one week , he must have had a big win at bingo or something.

Everything shut but I’ve had 9 bogong moths find a way in 🤦🏻

I was there about 7pm, watched 1 race and got the hell out of there.

Think it’s worse now Larry… at least next week with daylight saving the lights won’t attract them til later

They were on the endangered species list in 2021 after the drought. They migrate from as far away as QLD to the Aus Alps and hide in cool caves during the summer. The mountain Pygmy possum relies on them for food. They are attracted by the lights which stops their migration.

Make sure you keep the windows shut mate and call in the dark! I remember Greg Radley playing an old trots race from years ago on 2KY when towards the end of the race, the poor caller sucked in a moth and started choking during the race. Can't remember the caller's name though.

We actually replayed the audio tonight when I first mentioned the moths on SKY SPORTS RADIO…. And Mike, it’s still funny, moreso because it wasn’t me hahaha

Insane bogong moth swarm over the Hunter valley at the moment. Had to remove lights and plug roof holes to stop them 😂 tens of thousands swarming flower trees at night.

Would see this lots at Bathurst trots when I was younger Fred,it's a sight to see

it's fucking ridiculous out here ATM, any hiding spot you can imagine will have at least one moth hiding in it. You take the clothes off the line and you have to shake them for moths. I've never seen anything like it in Penrith.
