🚀 Zed v1.14 is out! Zed's Agent now sandboxes its `terminal` and `fetch` tools by default. The sandbox prevents agents from writing outside project directories, modifying `.git`, or accessing the network unless you grant permission.

We’ve improved prompt caching in the API for GPT-6, helping agents run faster and cost less. Higher cache-hit rates by default mean more input tokens benefit from cached-input discounts of up to 90%.

Loading state visualization for menus, built with bazza/ui Menu ⁽¹⁾ and TANSTACK Query: ⊙ First fetch: default loading spinner ⊙ Re-fetch: show cached data + inline spinner in the input It makes two different states obvious to the user: "We have nothing yet" vs. "here's what we have, but we're checking for updates." ⁽¹⁾ Releasing a preview soon. Hop in to the bazza/ui Discord for access:

But the KV cache is created for each transformer layer. By sending each layer’s KV cache after it’s computed, we overlap communication with computation. We stream the KV cache and hide the network delay. We achieve a 4x speedup in prefill & 3x in decode, with 0 network delay.
