Nice work from Phil Bayly, Susan Dutcher and collaborators, using acoustic trapping as an alternative way to confine microswimmers so the can be imaged at high res, including flagellar synchrony in the case of #chlamydomonas.

in particular, increase in medium viscosity reduces synchronization (something we have also observed), again consistent with the notion that chlamy cilia are not coordinated by #hydrodynamics, note the decoupling between cis and trans frequencies at high viscosity!
