How does a pilot do that so exquisitely when the passenger cabin is screaming in stark terror the whole way down? 🤣

We’re busy. 😎

Awwww, the old “weather-vaning” crosswind technique. Nice! I still prefer the “wing-low, top rudder” technique so I keep the runway in front of me vs looking out the side window for it. lol.

That’s how I flew.

@Arizona_GOAT Impossible in the 74

@BuzzPatterson lol. 74 lands itself.

I got to fly the 757 sim at United about 15 years ago. Max crosswind on my last landing. Approach too high, then too low, and I slammed it onto the runway. Rolled to the right, ding ding ding right engine on fire. Not done, rolled it to the left, ding ding ding left engine on fire. Came to a stop slightly off the runway. My brother-in-law was in the instructor's seat. He had a death grip on each arm. (I won't name my buddy, who was an instructor there, and still flies for United.) Landing in good weather was fairly easy for me. Pilots earn their money in bad weather.

I had fun learning with this one.

Bet the folks with window seats on the starboard side of that plane were sucking foam with butt cheeks!

Not bad…but…looks like they just landed in a crab. Good thing runway was wet

Sir would that be described as crabbing?

Yes.

It's amazing what some people can do that's just part of their job.

Physics and pilots being experts in it We love to see it

I refuse to disclose the most severe crosswind I've ever tackled in a jet.🤫 Fortunately, the Herk taught me well all those years ago.

“Nicely done.” You pilots are so full of such under-stated bad-assery, which is the way it ought to be. Each time it felt like the flight crew handed the reins to “them crazy Duke Boys” we’re in the back questioning most of our life decisions. You guys were up front not even breaking a sweat, hats off to all of you.

I'd been on a few planes, but not many, and my traveling days were just getting started. I'd never been 'crabbing' until SFO. Can't say I cared much for it. As a passenger, flying crooked without any knowledge of WHY was an unpleasant experience to say the very least. 🙃😆

Earned his paycheck for the day!

Gulping. One flight into Burlington in a puddle jumper with a landing like that...said the complete rosary in two minutes. Yikes.

I'm guessing it wasn't a DEI pilot.

I fricking hate sitting in the front jumpseat facing the passengers during those kinds of landings

It's a bit unnerving to look out the window from the window seat and see the runway.

@Fandango_Fire Definitely not a DEI hire!

When my Dad and our family were stationed in Okinawa, my Mom took a trip to Thailand & was returning home, THIS is how her plane was landing in a HEAVY crosswind! We were all freaking out but the pilot, like this pilot, did an outstanding job getting Mama home safe for us!

Man— I remember coming into the Azores like that. Creepiest thing to see the runway out the porthole passenger windows, but those guys landed it like pros. Of course, our ESTA team had to fix the gear afterwards, but did eventually get safely on and off that rock. 😂

Airport runways should be laid out and built like an asterisk 🤣…just be careful at the intersection

That is some mighty fine sideways crabbing.

Reminds me of an Airfield in Mandeville back in Jamaica when I used to live there and work for the small Domestic Airlines Trans Jamaican I did a short stint as Cargo Supervisor in a little town 3000 ft above sea level the cross winds there were wicked, This Pilot did a Fab Tdown

This is why I cannot look out windows during landings. Had one like this at Barajas—in the fog—three attempts before we diverted. I’m pretty sure they had to replace the arm rests I tore off! 🤣

That's just about every touch down on Shemya.

That is some amazing flying skills 💪🏻

45 mph gusts?

Must’ve been a carrier pilot coming in a yaw like that!! HOE-LEE Shite…😳

Crab that baby!

Serious cross winds there!!

@measter9922 Now that is a crosswind! Good gravy. Beautiful landing!

I would say he done that a few times

My algorithm feeds me a steady stream of these amazing flights. Landings are a special treat.

Serious question - What are the passengers doing/thinking?

I truly can't believe y'all do that stuff. how am I going to function in a fake AI world.
