Disaster response shouldn’t be a competition, but North Carolina’s failures are inexcusable. A decade after Matthew and Florence, 1,000+ homes are still unfinished, while Texas mobilized ISTF teams and delivered aid within days. NCORR’s $319 million debt and Stein’s $1.07 billion request prove systemic waste—taxpayers fund bureaucracy, not recovery. Mississippi rebuilt 40,000 homes post-Katrina with a 0.1% error rate. When states prioritize efficiency over red tape, lives are saved. North Carolina’s leaders need accountability, not more cash infusions.

Gaza has been hollowed out. Thousands of innocent children have been killed. Millions of people displaced. A humanitarian disaster. And while Hamas should be condemned for their atrocities…the Israeli government have been barbaric in their response that has caused the loss of lives to thousands of innocent civilians. Imagine if Britain had done the same to Ireland after the IRA bombings? You cannot justify this. And also not forgetting the numerous occasions that the Israeli government have broken international law over the past 80 years..

A couple of hours later, everyone gathered for a press conference that felt less like a political event and more like a town hall in mourning. President Trump sat next to Governor Abbott, visibly shaken, and began trying to explain what he had witnessed. “Get a little tour of the area, it’s hard to believe the devastation,” he began, describing entire trees, a century old, ripped up like weeds. “Trees that are a hundred years old, just ripped out of the ground. This is a bad one.” He spoke about the families he had met just hours earlier. “We just visited with incredible families—I mean, look, they’ve been devastated. They lost their child or two children, and, it's just hard to believe, I have never seen anything like it.” “A little narrow river that becomes a monster, and that's what happened.” But the purpose of his visit was clear. “But the First Lady and I are here in Texas to express the love and support and the anguish of our entire nation in the aftermath of this really horrific and deadly flood.
