Kobe didn’t need all these gimmicks man. He just played hard as the best player in the sport and it motivated others to do the same. The league has bad player leadership. Kobe wouldn’t have allowed what the All Star has become. Kobe led by example and ever since he left it’s obvious that he was the LAST OF THE DAWGS from true mega/superstars in the game. Lebron and Steph don’t have this.. they Can’t produce what they don’t have. This was on display obviously in the 2013 all star where Kobe put Lebron in the corner and locked him up. Buts it’s not just the defense, it’s the tenacity and seriousness in which he approached the all star game. The activity on fighting off screens etc. This type of heart for the game is long gone. Kobe left and so did the heart of the NBA. Changing the format won’t change anything. We need new mega stars that love the game like Kobe did.

Lebron teams won 16-6 vs Kobe but honestly the overall tape between them when they faced off, Kobe was cooking him religiously. It was crazy WORK 🐍 Lebron was shackled overall in their one on one matchups and Kobe was cooking when LeBron guarded him. Kobe shooting near 55% when guarded by LeBron, Lebron shooting near 28% when guarded by Kobe. I’ve done the research. These numbers check out. If winning a game is a team accomplishment stop boasting that 16-6 record. It means little because when they went up against eachother, man vs man, Kobe cooked. Lebron shackled. There was an article from ESPN in 2010 that showed Kobe’s percentage being low vs LeBron. But after that year he cooked that boy up including a match up in 2016 where Kobe went like 8 for 8 against LeBron. Regardless, I got the tape. And It’s right here for you. Admitted LeBron is the GOAT Stan Van Gundy said “we wanted LeBron to score”. LeBron’s 38PPG was surely a feat against Orlando but he still was not the best player in the league. As the Magic still punished the Cavs and beat them in 6 and would have been 5 if not a great buzzer beater from LeBron. LeBron was also a -7 for the series. But when then Magic faced Kobe they were pretty much dominated because Kobe was the scoring engine and a threat all around the court. So the Magic could not just load up on the Lakers role players because Kobe’s action was putting so much pressure on them. They had to watch Kobe when he was around his spots in the mid-range and it often led to Pau Gasol having more one on ones in the post and even slashing and getting easy hand-offs from Kobe. Kobe averaged 32PPG with 7.4 assists and was a +49 for the series. It was total domination when he was on the court. He opened up everything and his action was way too much for the Magic. There was no defense for Kobe at this time in his career. He was the best player in the league which is why he went to 3 straight finals out of the gutter Western Conference and won back to back with Pau Gasol as his running mate
