Nick Wright thinks it’s interesting the media isn’t criticizing Wemby for campaigning his MVP case when they usually always do when a player talks that way about himself: “Most in the media hate stuff like that… Typically a 22 year old who’s never won anything explaining to everyone how...

Brian Scalebrine says Wemby is his MVP this year: "Ever since I watched Wemby live, he is the most impactful player I have ever seen... Historically the MVP has always been the greatest on/off. When it was Jokic he won MVP, last year it was SGA. When he's on the floor one of the best in the NBA and when he is off the Spurs are like a lottery team. Wemby leads the league in on/off. Also, he is 4-1 against SGA"

Theo Pinson says there is not one person on this earth picking SGA over Wemby: “HE’S THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD. REGARDLESS OF THE TEAM SUCCESS. Does OKC got a better team? Possibly they have a better team, these teams matchup. BUT WEMBY IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD. Who gives a fu*k? Did LeBron win a championship every fu*king year? No. But was he the best player in the world? Yes. Does that mean he’s not the best player in the world.” (Via ToTheBaha)

Gabe Vincent on the difference of playing with LeBron James vs Jimmy Butler and the media attention playing for the Lakers: “I been on the floor with Jimmy when he’s in go mode. When he’s in go mode he’s a similar type of player. I’ve seen him stand toe to toe with Bron in 2020 playoffs. He can be that guy to some extent. Obviously Bron is Bron but he can be the guy who wants the floor spaced and attack every play — playing with Bron people talk about it but he thinks the game so well that when he breaks right, you have to break right even harder…. The media a whole different story… That lakers noise is loud no question about it” (Via Out The Mud Podcast)

Nick Wright thinks the media is being hypocrites when it comes to Luka vs Wemby MVP debate 👀 “Him opening his MVP campaign by saying ‘my 3rd prong is there’s more to offense than scoring’ and everybody in the media being like ‘HE’S RIGHT YA KNOW! HAVE YOU HEARD OF ROLL GRAVITY?’ Then he scores 40 in back to back games and everybody on the media is like ‘WHAT CAN’T THIS MAN DO’ — What I find hypocritical by folks covering the league is, they yatta yatta about Luka putting up 40 consistently for a month, and then going head over heels over Wemby doing it a couple games in a row in games where his team kind of went away from their identity of lockdown defense, because he’s gunning for a award” (Via What’s Wright? with Nick Wright)

Nick Wright admits Dwyane Wade would’ve won finals MVP in 2011 if the Heat won: “In the finals he averaged 27, 7, 5, and was the best player on the Heat by far. LeBron was not with it that series. We all know the story there… They lose that series, but if the Heat managed to win that series, D Wade would’ve been finals MVP that series on a team with LeBron.” (Via What’s Wright? with Nick Wright)

Stephen Jackson says LeBron had one move left to pass Jordan, and he picked the one that ends the argument “I thought everywhere in the world, but Philly... I did not think Philly.” “You the best player in the league, as you say. So going to a team that’s already championship ready, that’s not what I would look at as the best player in the league challenging himself.” “He’s done it before, and he has the right to make his own decision, just like I have the right to my opinion. I don’t think that was a best-player-in-the-league move of what a guy that I respect as being the best player in the league would do.” (via ALL THE SMOKE, ft. Stephen Jackson (Stak5))

LeBron James says never winning Defensive Player of the Year is the one award that still stings “Defensive Player of the Year. That’s the only award that I don’t have in my house that kind of stings.” “The year I finished second in Defensive Player of the Year, the guy who won Defensive Player of the Year didn’t even make First Team All-Defense. That doesn’t make sense.” “I also had an opportunity to be the first unanimous MVP.” “I got one vote… it was a writer from Boston.” “The media votes on these awards, and I don’t know if it’s a perfect way to do it because humans have bias.” “Why they voting if you’re not watching the game, you’re not studying the game, you’re not listening to the peers of the game too?”

Like, we can talk about Bron, Jordan, Joker he is the most complete player in the history of the game. The way he influences the defense, then when he turns it offensive he’s making all kind of shots.” (Via No Fouls Given)

A C-SPAN caller just gave a perspective on President Trump that you almost never hear in the media. C-SPAN CALLER: “First of all, I want to appreciate the president and give him credit for being able to show up the second time after the first incident.” “I think a lot of people don’t give the president credit.” “He jokes a lot. He is a funny guy, and I think he is going to do his best to have fun tonight.” “The media is very critical of him, and sometimes he also lashes out at the media, but I think tonight he’s going to joke about the media, he’s going to joke about himself, and just try to have a good time with the media tonight.” “As you can see, over the years, his relationship has developed with the media, even some people who you think would not have a good relationship with the president, eventually have a good relationship with the president.” “For instance, the president of this organization…they didn’t have a relationship in his first administration, but today they do have a good relationship.” “So I think the president is someone who, when you get to know him, when you get closer to him, you get to understand him more.”
