🚨 DJ Akademiks says there’s only TWO artists from Drake’s past he wants to see collaborate with him moving forward: 🔥 Nicki Minaj 🔥 Lil Wayne According to Ak, every other rapper Drake has worked with over the years can stay in the past. 🗣️ “If it’s not Nicki Minaj and it’s not Lil Wayne, I think Drake is better by himself.” Ak made it clear he has no interest in nostalgia collaborations or reunion records with Drake’s former rap peers. 🗣️ “We don’t care how good the first song was. We don’t care how good the second song was. Time’s up.” 🚫 No old collaborations. 🚫 No reunion records. 🚫 No ‘bringing back the feeling.’ Ak says the only exception is Young Money. 👑 He believes fans are overdue for another Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne posse cut, comparing the anticipation to when the trio released “Seeing Green.” 🗣️ “We need another ‘Seeing Green.’ We need that bad.” While replaying Young Money classics, Ak argued that no rap collective past or present could generate the same excitement as Drake, Nicki, and Wayne appearing on a track together in 2026. 👀 He even questioned whether reunions from groups like: MMG Roc-A-Fella TDE would create the same level of anticipation. 🗣️ “I don’t think there’s any group we want to hear more than Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne on a posse cut.” Ak spent part of the stream revisiting “Seeing Green” and “No Frauds,” praising the chemistry between all three artists and calling their collaborations some of the most replayable records in modern hip-hop. He also reflected on Drake and Nicki’s relationship, suggesting that after everything that’s happened in the industry over the last few years, Drake may now better understand some of the points Nicki has been making publicly. 🎯 Bottom line: Akademiks says Drake doesn’t need to revisit old partnerships or chase nostalgia. The formula is simple: 🦉 Drake 👑 Nicki Minaj 🐐 Lil Wayne And give the fans a long overdue “Seeing Green Part 2

The Nicki Minaj–Lil’ Kim beef is a long-running hip-hop rivalry driven by accusations of style theft, lack of homage, Cash Money industry friction, and competing claims to the “Queen of Rap” title‼️. It peaked publicly around 2009–2011 and has never fully resolved‼️. Early roots (2007–2009)‼️ Comparisons started when Nicki’s 2007 "Playtime Is Over" promo images and 2008 "Sucka Free" cover closely mirrored Lil’ Kim’s iconic 1996 "Hard Core" look‼️. Fans saw Nicki emulating Kim’s racy image, flow, and aesthetic‼️. Nicki rejected the “new Lil’ Kim” label while giving shout-outs‼️. Their first meeting accounts differ‼️. Nicki says she approached Kim backstage at a Lil Wayne concert (~2009), asked if everything was good, and they took pictures‼️. Kim has denied that version and said she was initially nice to Nicki‼️. In late 2009 both appeared on Birdman’s “Grindin’ Makin’ Money.” Kim has said this came amid talks with Cash Money/Slim Williams about a partnership‼️. She recorded her verse quickly, expected a bigger push, then felt the track was sidelined once the label had her “stamp.”‼️She later claimed Nicki’s sound and records felt like they were taking the direction she was developing, and that Nicki became “catty.”‼️ Kim also described an encounter at Diddy’s son’s birthday party where Nicki allegedly eye-rolled and ignored her after the collab‼️. Escalation (2010–2011)‼️ As Nicki’s career exploded with "Pink Friday", Kim publicly accused her of not paying proper homage, taking subliminals, and cloning her without credit‼️. Kim framed it as disrespect from a younger artist who benefited from the path she helped clear‼️. Nicki’s “Roman’s Revenge” (with Eminem) was widely read as targeting Kim (“That bitch mad cuz I took the spot…”)‼️. Nicki has said a veteran came at her, she had repeatedly praised Kim (and Foxy, Remy) early on, and she responded because she had to protect her career and “feed her family.”‼️ Kim fired back with the "Black Friday" mixtape (a play on "Pink Friday") and direct disses‼️. Nicki later dropped “Tragedy,” mocking Kim’s independent sales and career trajectory‼️. Interviews continued the shots—Kim vowed not to take her foot off Nicki’s neck; Nicki mixed respect with warnings about picking fights and told Kim to put out Billboard-level music first‼️. Later years⁉️ The heaviest track-for-track phase cooled, but tension lingered‼️. Kim released a “Flawless” remix/cover dissing Nicki’s “Queen of Rap” claim and replacing her image‼️. She later aligned with Remy Ma during Remy’s beef with Nicki‼️. Occasional soft moments appeared (Kim voiced some support for "Queen" in 2018), but the rivalry never fully ended‼️. In 2024 Nicki blasted her former manager Deb Antney for reaching out to Kim behind her back to try to squash the beef, saying she never asked for it and did not want that associated with her‼️. Kim’s core view⁉️: She was initially open and nice (including the Cash Money collab)‼️. Nicki and the label studied/took her swag without lasting respect, then threw subliminals once established‼️. She felt used for credibility‼️. Nicki’s core view⁉️: She repeatedly credited and praised Kim early. A veteran attacked her; she hit back in self-defense‼️. She rejects being cast only as the disrespectful newcomer and says the dominant narrative ignores her early praise‼️. It remains classic generational tension mixed with industry politics, image parallels, and ego around legacy‼️. Both have acknowledged the other’s talent at points, but personal friction has blocked full public reconciliation‼️💯.

This take is rubbish‼️💯 Nicki Minaj pioneered the modern female-rap superstar lane that Cardi B operates in‼️ Wack 100’s take that Cardi is somehow ahead or that Nicki has lost the ability to compete doesn’t hold up when you look at the actual timeline and numbers‼️💯. Nicki broke through in the late 2000s when mainstream female rappers were scarce‼️. "Pink Friday" (2010) proved a woman could sell at superstar levels, dominate both hip-hop and pop radio, and build a full persona-driven brand with high fashion, alter egos, and technical versatility‼️. She became the first female rapper to hit 100 Billboard Hot 100 entries (now at 149) and still leads Cardi by a wide margin in total entries, top 10s, weeks on the chart, and cumulative streams (roughly 43–44 billion vs. around 22–23 billion on Spotify)‼️. Billboard later named her the greatest female rapper of all time for rewriting the playbook‼️💯. Cardi’s peaks are real‼️. She has more Hot 100 No. 1s and more diamond singles‼️. "Invasion of Privacy' was a massive debut‼️. But she entered a lane Nicki had already made commercially viable‼️. The post-2017 wave of female rappers, including Cardi, benefited from the space Nicki spent a decade opening‼️💯. The “Latin run” point falls flat too‼️💯. Nicki was born in Trinidad and has leaned into her Caribbean roots from the start—dancehall collabs, filming “Pound the Alarm” in Trinidad, and later scoring a major Spanish-language hit with Karol G on “Tusa.” Cardi’s bilingual Dominican-rooted tracks are authentic and successful, but they’re not uncharted territory Nicki never touched‼️💯. Same goes for the rest‼️: larger-than-life personality, fashion branding, business moves, and cultural dominance‼️. Nicki did the multi-persona spectacle, the fragrance and merch empire, and the high-grossing tours first‼️. She continues to chart, tour, and stay relevant years later‼️. Claims that marriage or motherhood removed her edge ignore her actual post-parenthood releases and No. 1s‼️💯. Cardi is a major commercial force with undeniable hits‼️. That doesn’t mean she invented the formula or that Nicki is finished‼️. Nicki established the commercial viability, the crossover playbook, the Caribbean-rooted flexibility, and the sustained dominance‼️. Cardi has executed versions of those same strategies well‼️. She hasn’t surpassed the original or rendered it obsolete‼️.

🚨 This is wild for a sitting governor. 🚨 California Gov. Gavin Newsom posted a reel taking shots at Nicki Minaj and Donald Trump, using: •Photos of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein •Photos of Trump with himself right after photos of Trump with Epstein.. Which was odd🧐 Are you dissing Trump or allegedly acting as if you are Epstein re incarnated? 🤔 •Audio from Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” (a Nicki Minaj diss) 🤔 For a politician, this is reckless behavior. Especially one who presents himself as a “moral” and “model” leader compared to the opposition. ⚠️ Conflict of Interest? Using the music of a controversial artist, while: •That artist’s alleged ex intimate partner is incarcerated by her allegations •His case allegedly contains reasonable doubt •Advocates have reportedly tried to get Newsom’s office to review the case That alone raises serious ethical questions. 📌 Let’s talk about Newsom’s actual record not social media stunts. Reparations in California: •Newsom signaled support during election cycles •But rejected direct cash reparations at the final stage In 2023, he refused to endorse the California Reparations Task Force’s cash payment recommendations, stating the legacy of slavery is “more than cash payments.” He also vetoed or declined support for bills that would have: •Provided college admission preferences for descendants of enslaved people •Allowed families to reclaim or be compensated for property taken via racially motivated eminent domain •Created homebuyer assistance funds for descendants of enslaved people 📉 Bottom line: No direct cash reparations. Multiple reparations bills scaled back or vetoed. 💰 California’s Tax & Business Exodus •Newsom supports policies like a retroactive billionaire tax •Targets roughly 220 billionaires, the most mobile taxpayers in the country 📊 IRS-based studies show: •California loses a taxpayer roughly every 1–2 minutes •States gaining residents: Texas, Florida, North Carolina Major companies leaving California include: Chevron, Tesla/X, SpaceX, Oracle, HP, Charles Schwab, Toyota North America, Joe Rogan Experience just to name a few. 📉 The Result? •Shrinking tax base •Growing budget deficits •Businesses and high earners “voting with their feet” Economists point to the Laffer Curve: ➡️ Higher taxes don’t always mean higher revenue ➡️ Excessive taxation often drives capital out, not in 🗳️ And now Gavin Newsom wants to run for President… …on a record of: •Performative politics •Broken reparations promises •Business flight •Aggressive taxation •And viral Instagram governance 🤔 Is this leadership or clout chasing?

🦉Akademiks Reacts to Ebro in the Morning Ending + OVO’s Response 🎙️ Akademiks turns up after Drake and OVO react to the end of Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97. According to Ak, this moment has been a long time coming. 🔥 Key Takeaways from Akademiks’ Rant: •Drake noticed everything: Ak says Drake liked posts celebrating Ebro and Rosenberg being let go, and claims the entire OVO camp has been enjoying the moment. •“The era of hating for clicks is over”: Akademiks argues that media figures who built their platforms primarily on hating Drake, Nicki Minaj, or himself are now facing consequences as companies chase real engagement not negativity. •Multiple shows & writers “packed up”: Ak points to The Bigger Picture being canceled and a Rolling Stone writer allegedly being laid off shortly after publishing a Nicki Minaj hit piece. •No audience, no safety net: He says many critics confused temporary hate-driven attention with real fanbases and once the hate stopped working, the numbers disappeared. 💼 Akademiks’ “Job Offer” Segment (Yes, He Was Serious… Mostly): •Ak claims he’s willing to hire former haters who’ve recently lost their jobs. •Offer: $6,000/month •Requirement: 10 researched articles per month •Topic ONLY: Investigative reporting on Roc Nation and Desiree Perez •“If you were great at hit pieces before, now do some real investigating.” 📩 Emails allegedly in the bio. 📉 Ak’s Bigger Message: •New media isn’t going anywhere. •Hate without substance is no longer profitable. •Creators must adapt, grow, and actually build audiences, not just ride outrage. •Akademiks says he plans to listen, evolve, and avoid becoming “the next Ebro.” 🥂 Final Words from Ak: “This wasn’t hate it was inevitable. Learn from it. Adapt. Build something real.”

38 Spesh disses Fat Joe, Jim Jones, Jadakiss and Stove God Cooks in a new freestyle. On July 24, Spesh took the stage at Hot 97's Summer Jam 2026 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and rapped an acapella freestyle that takes aim at Joe, Capo, Jada and Stove. "Yo, Jim I got a bone to pick/That's some h*e sh*t - talking bout how another ni**a clothes fit/When yo house on the foreclosed list," Spesh raps. "Before you made cash off rap what was yo job?/Jim story faker than the one Fat Joe robbed," Spesh continues. "Got a flow that'll fill stands/Only reason Kiss eating cause he Fat Joe's lil mans," Spesh adds, before saying he would hit Stove with a hook. A short time after his performance, Spesh released the AraabMUZIK-produced version of the rap called "Fools Mate" on DSPs. The new diss track is a culmination of months-long tension between 38 Spesh and Jada, after Spesh began calling out Jada for allegedly not wanting to get on a track with him since Spesh claimed he got the best of the LOX rapper on the 2019 song "Sunday School." Jim Jones interjected himself in the conversation by coming to Jada's defense. Spesh dissed the former Dip Set rapper in an interview, prompting a response from Jim and affiliate Chunk Bizza. On July 10, Fat Joe, Jadakiss and Stove God released the song "The Aroma," where Jada takes a shot at Spesh, rapping, "I been obliterating ni**as for years/Is this about a verse, or is this about a career?" On Monday (July 27), in the wake of his Summer Jam performance, Spesh dropped a music video for "Fools Mate," which features Fat Joe and Jadakiss look-alikes. 🎥: Billionairepolo/X

Unfortunately for everyone,‼️ everything DJ Akademiks said is true‼️💯‼️Record labels have upgraded payola from cash bribes to “goodwill” business gifts—equity roles, sponsor spots, free festival slots, and partnership access‼️that create quiet expectations for favorable spins, coverage, and narrative protection‼️ These arrangements let hosts stay technically clean while aligning incentives.‼️ The result is engineered stories that boost allies and bury rivals, especially during feuds.‼️💯 One standout case involves Charlamagne tha God of The Breakfast Club‼️ New York State gaming filings for Jay-Z’s Roc Nation-backed Caesars Palace Times Square casino bid (with SL Green and Caesars) listed him as a “promoter/sponsor” tied to Roc Nation‼️ He publicly championed the project on air and testified in support, framing it as a jobs and community win‼️without disclosing any personal stake at the time‼️💯 The $5.4B bid later failed‼️💯 At the same time, Charlamagne repeatedly criticized Drake’s high-profile Stake crypto-gambling affiliation amid related lawsuits‼️. DJ Akademiks called out the contrast‼️ Funk Flex later blasted Charlamagne on Hot 97 as overly aligned with Jay-Z‼️💯The hidden tie created natural incentive to soften one side while hammering the other‼️💯 iHeartMedia’s “Showola” Scheme On the institutional level, iHeartMedia (home to major syndicated shows) settled an FCC investigation in July 2026 over “showola.”‼️ The company allegedly pressured artists and labels to perform for free or low pay at its festivals‼️ and events‼️ in exchange for better airplay‼️ Senator Marsha Blackburn flagged it‼️ the FCC pushed a consent decree requiring new disclosures and compliance‼️Labels learned to “gift” performances for implied rotations‼️keeping the expectation alive without direct cash trails‼️ The game moved online too‼️. Drake’s UMG lawsuit alleged labels used discounted licensing deals‼️ and promoter payments‼️ for playlist boosts‼️ and algorithmic favors‼️ that then fed radio momentum‼️ Veteran DJ Funkmaster Flex publicly backed the claims‼️, citing alleged price lists‼️ (hundreds of thousands for major formats)‼️ and accusing some backdoor arrangements of crushing independents‼️ These loopholes don’t require a smoking-gun text‼️A promoter role in a Roc Nation casino‼️, a festival slot traded for spins‼️or a streaming incentive creates natural alignment‼️💯 Hosts and platforms then amplify the “right” narratives‼️praising one camp’s moves‼️ while dissecting the rival’s affiliations‼️Cause tell me why a black man would break Michael Jackson's record and Charlamagne would publicly say it means nothing‼️⁉️💯

This WNEW New York radio clip was broadcast at roughly 11.30pm on 8th December 1980. Just 50 minutes after John Lennon had been assassinated. The official narrative that John Lennon ran deep into the Dakota building after being shot four times, had crucially not yet been set when this radio report was aired. The Taxi Driver being described in this WNEW radio clip is not Richard Peterson. Peterson has consistently said he immediately ran for help after saying he saw Chapman raise a gun and fire. Peterson is adamant he never saw John getting hit - despite the 2023 Apple TV series suggesting through a deceptive edit that Peterson did see this. The anonymous Taxi Driver mentioned in this WNEW radio news report said he saw Lennon lying on the ground (IE: in the Dakota driveway) with blood coming from his chest and mouth. This particular taxi driver was immediately written out of history. The official narrative wants us to believe that Lennon ran into the Dakota building after being fatally shot four times around his heart. By the time the NYPD arrived at the Dakota, John Lennon had been dead for nearly ten minutes. Three NYPD officers all confirmed that they came upon Lennon's body in a back office of the concierge's area - face down. Someone clearly moved John Lennon's mortally wounded body from the Dakota driveway and left him to bleed out face down for over ten minutes in a back office of the building. The 'John was moving after being shot' narrative was reinforced by numerous police interviews given by Yoko Ono on the night of the assassination. It was also reinforced by a 3am NYPD press conference and subsequently by a magazine interview given by Dakota Concierge Jay Hastings. Hastings gave his interview in the small hours of 9th December to a rookie journalist called Greg Katz. By the time the Katz piece was published in Rolling Stone magazine a few weeks later in January 1981, Hastings had strangely left his employment at the Dakota. Ono never spoke in detail about the shooting again. The WNEW taxi driver saw something that categorically does not fit with the 'John was moving after being shot' statements of Yoko Ono and Dakota concierge Jay Hastings. The WNEW taxi driver was not alone in seeing Lennon bleeding out and dying in the Dakota driveway. A woman called Carrie Rouse said she entered the driveway after hearing gunfire and said she saw the exact same thing as the WNEW taxi driver. Rouse's observations were featured in early AP newswires and in early newspaper reports the following day on 9th December 1980. By 10th December, the recollections of Rouse, like the recollections of the WNEW taxi driver, were never mentioned again. My new book now reveals that a worker at the Dakota said he also saw Lennon's 'mortally wounded' body in the driveway. This Dakota worker declared this in an affidavit given a few hours after the murder at the NYPD 20th precinct to Assistant District Attorney Kim Hogrefe. The debate is over. John Lennon was unquestionably moved after he was mortally wounded in the Dakota driveway. He was then left to bleed out and die face down in a Dakota back office. Everyone who was there that night has given another (frankly ludicrous) version of events of what immediately happened after John Lennon was shot. A ludicrous version of events that simply does not add up with what we now know.

Firefighter James Rodgers speaking alongside Zack Polanski, on the need to address climate change "When people talk about climate change, they often talk about the year 2050. I’m a firefighter. I want to talk about now, because for firefighters, climate change isn’t a prediction, it’s a shift we’re already working. Climate change is the fire call to multiple back gardens alight, children’s clothing burning on the washing line." "Climate change is the acrid smell as you effect entry into a flat because someone has succumbed to heat stroke and hasn’t been checked on in weeks. Climate change is the sound of people in floods of tears when they’re stuck in a lift 20 floors up in 30-degree heat." "Climate change is the taste of dust in your dry mouth watching a fire sweep uncontrollably across a park you used to play football in as a child in your summer holidays. Climate change is this becoming a day-to-day reality." "This week I’ve spoken to my colleagues from all over the United Kingdom and they have said no one wants to admit it, but the heat is getting to all of us. We’re getting shorter with each other and we’re finishing jobs feeling like we’ve done a full day’s work even before lunch." "Another said, my station gets very hot inside and there isn’t a place I can find relief from the heat whilst at work. It leaves me having more headaches and brain fog, less able to do my job after 24 years in the job. Another firefighter said to me, when are we finally going to get the workwear designed for this climate?" "Everyone who works in the fire brigade is feeling the exhaustion. We expect the fires, we expect the floods, we expect the road traffic collisions. What we didn’t expect was for the extreme heat itself to become the emergency." "Not just for the public, for the people responding to it too. Climate change is rapidly changing the conditions in which every part of our job happens. Make no mistake, we will turn up. Don’t fear the sound of our sirens – it’s the sound of help on its way." "We will keep responding, we will keep adapting. The question isn’t whether us firefighters will do our job, the question is whether the rest of us are willing to do ours. The climate crisis is stretching the fire service long before it makes headlines." "And whilst the same debates continue to happen, whilst fossil fuels are exploited from the earth for the profit of the few, our jobs are getting harder, days longer, resources thinner and incidents more severe." "Major fires can start with a single spark. Every solution starts with a decision to act. Every action that cuts emissions, protects our green spaces, teaches our children to care, supports resilience or helps a vulnerable neighbour matters." "Our future isn’t decided by one big decision, but millions of small ones. And the longer we wait, the harder it becomes for communities, for governments and, yes, for firefighters too. Because the climate crisis isn’t coming." "It’s calling 999."

Something amazing is coming to Apache Kafka… Consumer Groups v2! If you’ve ever used consumer groups in production at any non-trivial scale, you probably know all the problems with it: - ⛔️ Group-wide synchronization barrier acts as a cap on scalability A single misbehaving consumer can disturb the whole group. Even if you have cooperative rebalancing and static membership enabled, you will still have rebalances happen. 🤷‍♂️ It’s a fact of life I've heard - death, taxes & consumer group rebalances. And the problem is that even with cooperative rebalancing (which helped a lot!), you’re bound on waiting for the slowest member of the group to complete the rebalance(s). 🐌 The problem is that no consumer can commit offsets while a rebalance is in progress. ❌ Another subtle thing is that with cooperative rebalancing, a rebalance will take longer than usual. Why? Because consumers are allowed to process partitions during rebalances. They will call the poll() method more infrequently -- they're busy processing records after all. Thus, the overall rebalance time will increase. This makes it pretty hard to scale to 1000s of members. - 🤯 Complexity There’s a reason you’re reading this! The current protocol is pretty complex and hard to understand. It's used for a bunch of stuff, including metadata propagation in Kafka Streams. This compexity results in more: - 🐛 bugs The harder to reason about and the more moving parts you have - the greater chance for bugs. There have been quite a few in the protocol. And due to the fact that a lot of the protocol’s logic lives on the clients, that results in: - 🐌 slow fixes Bugs require client-side fixes, which are slow to be adopted. If you run a Kafka ops team, you know how hard it is to get all of your clients' teams to upgrade! If you're using a cloud service, you need to wait for a new Kafka release to go out. Can't have the cloud provider handle it for you behind the scenes! - 🔍 hard to debug Debugging is harder because you need client logs. In the cloud, that's hard to do again. On-prem, it requires reading through a lot of logs and collecting a lot of files. - ⚙️ very extendable There’s a reusable embedded protocol within the rebalance protocol, where clients are free to attach raw bytes that only they can then parse themselves. It's challenging to build compatible software for this cross-client protocol, as well as near-impossible to inspect from the broker side. - 😢 inconsistent metadata Clients are responsible for triggering rebalances based on the metadata, but different clients can have different views of the metadata. - 😵‍💫 interoperability Different implementations of the clients (i.e. anything besides the Java client) may have bugs. The complex logic needs to be re-implemented quite a few times. This usually means more bugs and slower time to ship features in your favorite client. A combination nobody likes. ... So what should an open source community do? Move the logic to the broker! Then? Simplify it. The new protocol is very elegant - it streamlines all of the regular Kafka consumer logic inside a new heartbeat API. It has the broker decide what partition assignments the consumers should have, and totally omits the notion of a Group Leader client. Another major change is that the notion of a group-wide rebalance is removed now. The rebalance is more fine-grained now. 👌 When you think about it, a rebalance is simply a reassignment of some partitions from some consumers to others. 💡 Why does the whole group need to stop and know about this? It had to before because the logic was on the client. It doesn’t now. 🎂 The new protocol is fine-grained in its assignments. It maintains per-member epochs, as well as separate epochs for the general group membership and the global assignment. The goal is simple - get all of those epoch numbers to be the same. The order is the following: 1. the group-wide epoch is bumped. 2. the target assignment epoch is bumped. 3. individual consumers catch up to the epoch via the heartbeat request, individually. (fine-grained) In general, what you have is a simple state machine inside the Group Coordinator broker that’s running a constant reconciliation loop. 💥 Because every member converges to the target state independently, the coordinator is free to simplify that convergence member by member. 👍 It has the logic to resolve dependencies between members - the act of: 1. revoking one member’s partition. 2. confirming the success of that. 3. bumping that member's epoch before assigning that partition to another consumer. Here is an example visual of what happens when two members join a consumer group one by one:

The recent, disjointed rhetoric regarding South Korea is not just another typical Trumpian outburst, it is a symptom of a White House that has completely abandoned the concept of a national security strategy. As Professor Robert Kelly recently said on The Trump Report, the professional security process, the rigorous machinery designed to provide a President with viable options, has collapsed. The professor observes: "There is supposed to be a national security process by the way, a policy process that brings options up to the president, and that has basically fallen apart... Trump is just sort of taking cues from his personal staff and from his phone and and radio media and stuff like that." We are witnessing a Commander-in-Chief who clearly prefers his morning briefings to come from the talking heads on cable news rather than his own experts. The pattern is sickeningly predictable: When Trump’s impulsive adventures go sideways, his fragile ego cannot handle the failure. Professor Kelly puts it bluntly: "Trump's crippled by his narcissism, his sort of adolescence... he's sort of unable to handle setbacks in the way that sort of adults have sort of learned how to process through the course of their career. Trump just hasn't, just doesn't know how to do that, and so he lashes out and acts out again." Lacking the maturity to process his own shortcomings, he searches for a punching bag. U.S. allies, being polite and committed to the relationship, become the perfect targets for his deflection. As the Professor notes: "US allies are always a nice target for Trump because he can punch them and they won't punch back... so when we screw up our wars, it's your fault." By fawning over a dictator like Kim Jong-un, Trump isn't just "shooting his mouth off”. He is actively dismantling the credibility of the United States. He seems to possess a pathetic, desperate need for validation from other authoritarian "strongmen," seemingly oblivious to the damage he causes. The Professor highlights this dangerous blindness: "Donald Trump has this sort of curious belief that if strong men like him that he's somehow a greater president... the fact that dictators would approve of him strikes him I guess as something really valuable whereas for a lot of us out there in the West it's like oh my god you know putin is his friend that's a bad signal. Trump doesn't seem to grasp that." The long-term damage is already setting in. Allies are tired of being the scapegoats for a President who cannot connect cause and consequence. There is no plan, no framework, and no future-thinking, just a chaotic vacuum at the heart of the world's most powerful nation. As Professor Kelly concludes: "I'm real skeptical that at this point that there's anything that that we would call a foreign policy doctrine or grand strategy coming out of this White House... it's just Trump just winging it, you know, and yeah, nobody really quite knows what to make of that." Trump may think he is playing a high-stakes game, but to the rest of the world, it looks like a desperate man burning down the house to distract from his own failures. The tragedy is that while Trump may eventually fade into history, the fractures he has created in the global order will take a generation to repair.

Absolutely masterful interview on Gaza of Dominique De Villepin, former Prime Minister of France, who famously led France's opposition to the Iraq war and who, IMHO is the best diplomat the West has produced in decades. This is so important, so incredibly well argued, that I decided to translate it in full: "Hamas has set a trap for us, and this trap is one of maximum horror, of maximum cruelty. And so there's a risk of an escalation in militarism, of more military interventions, as if we could with armies solve a problem as serious as the Palestinian question. There's also a second major trap, which is that of Occidentalism. We find ourselves trapped, with Israel, in this western bloc which today is being challenged by most of the international community. [Presenter: What is Occidentalism?] Occidentalism is the idea that the West, which for 5 centuries managed the world's affairs, will be able to quietly continue to do so. And we can clearly see, even in the debates of the French political class, that there is the idea that, faced with what is currently happening in the Middle East, we must continue the fight even more, towards what might resemble a religious or a civilizational war. That is to say, to isolate ourselves even more on the international stage. This is not the way, especially since there's a third trap, which is that of moralism. And here we have in a way the proof, through what is happening in Ukraine and what is happening in the Middle East, of this double standard that is denounced everywhere in the world, including in recent weeks when I travel to Africa, the Middle East, or Latin America. The criticism is always the same: look at how civilian populations are treated in Gaza, you denounce what happened in Ukraine, and you are very timid in the face of the tragedy unfolding in Gaza. Consider international law, the second criticism that is made by the global south. We sanction Russia when it aggresses Ukraine, we sanction Russia when it doesn't respect the resolutions of the United Nations, and it's been 70 years that the resolutions of the United Nations have been voted in vain and that Israel doesn't respect them. [Presenter: Do you believe that the Westerners are currently guilty of hubris?] Westerners must open their eyes to the extent of the historical drama unfolding before us to find the right answers. [Presenter: What is the historical drama? I mean, we're talking about the tragedy of October 7th first and foremost, right?] Of course, there are these horrors happening, but the way to respond to them is crucial. Are we going to kill the future by finding the wrong answers... [Presenter: Kill the future?] Kill the future, yes! Why? [Presenter: But who is killing whom?] You are in a game of causes and effects. Faced with the tragedy of history, one cannot take this 'chain of causality' analytical grid, simply because if you do you can't escape from it. Once we understand that there is a trap, once we realize that behind this trap there has also been a change in the Middle East regarding the Palestinian issue... The situation today is profoundly different [from what it was in the past]. The Palestinian cause was a political and secular cause. Today we are faced with an Islamist cause, led by Hamas. Obviously, this kind of cause is absolute and allows no form of negotiation. On the Israeli side, there has also been a development. Zionism was secular and political, championed by Theodor Herzl in the late 19th century. It has largely become messianic, biblical today. This means that they too do not want to compromise, and everything that the far-right Israeli government does, continuing to encourage colonization, obviously makes things worse, including since October 7th. So in this context, understand that we are already in this region facing a problem that seems profoundly insoluble. Added to this is the hardening of states. Diplomatically, look at the statements of the King of Jordan, they are not the same as six months ago. Look at the statements of Erdogan in Turkey. [Presenter: Precisely, these are extremely harsh statements...] Extremely worrying. Why? Because if the Palestinian cause, the Palestinian issue, hasn't been brought to the forefront, hasn't been put on stage [for a while], and if most of the youth today in Europe have often never even heard of it, it remains for the Arab peoples the mother of all battles. All the progress made towards an attempt to stabilize the Middle East, where one could believe... [Presenter: Yes, but whose fault is it? I have a hard time following you, is it Hamas's fault?] But Ms. Malherbe, I am trained as a diplomat. The question of fault will be addressed by historians and philosophers. [Presenter: But you can't remain neutral, it's difficult, it's complicated, isn't it?] I am not neutral, I am in action. I am simply telling you that every day that passes, we can ensure that this horrific cycle stops... that's why I speak of a trap and that's why it's so important to know what response we are going to give. We stand alone before history today. And we do not treat this new world the way we currently do, knowing that today we are no longer in a position of strength, we are not able to manage on our own, as the world's policemen. [Presenter: So what do we do?] Exactly, what should we do? This is where it is essential not to cut off anyone on the international stage. [Presenter: Including the Russians?] Everyone. [Presenter: Everyone? Should we ask the Russians for help?] I'm not saying we should ask the Russians for help. I'm saying: if the Russians can contribute by calming some factions in this region, then it will be a step in the right direction. [Presenter: How can we proportionally respond to barbarism? It's no longer army against army.] But listen, Appolline de Malherbe, the civilian populations that are dying in Gaza, don't they exist? So because horror was committed on one side, horror must be committed on the other? [Presenter: Do we indeed need to equate the two?] No, it's you who are doing that. I'm not saying I equate the faults. I try to take into account what a large part of humanity thinks. There is certainly a realistic objective to pursue, which is to eradicate the Hamas leaders who committed this horror. And not to confuse the Palestinians with Hamas, that's a realistic goal. The second thing is a targeted response. Let's define realistic political objectives. And the third thing is a combined response. Because there is no effective use of force without a political strategy. We are not in 1973 or in 1967. There are things no army in the world knows how to do, which is to win in an asymmetrical battle against terrorists. The war on terror has never been won anywhere. And it instead triggers extremely dramatic misdeeds, cycles, and escalations. If America lost in Afghanistan, if America lost in Iraq, if we lost in the Sahel, it's because it's a battle that can't be won simply, it's not like you have a hammer that strikes a nail and the problem is solved. So we need to mobilize the international community, get out of this Western entrapment in which we are. [Presenter: But when Emmanuel Macron talks about an international coalition…] Yes, and what was the response? [Presenter: None.] Exactly. We need a political perspective, and this is challenging because the two-state solution has been removed from the Israeli political and diplomatic program. Israel needs to understand that for a country with a territory of 20,000 square kilometers, a population of 9 million inhabitants, facing 1.5 billion people... Peoples have never forgotten that the Palestinian cause and the injustice done to the Palestinians was a significant source of mobilization. We must consider this situation, and I believe it is essential to help Israel, to guide... some say impose, but I think it's better to convince, to move in this direction. The challenge is that there is no interlocutor today, neither on the Israeli side nor the Palestinian side. We need to bring out interlocutors. [Presenter: It's not for us to choose who will be the leaders of Palestine.] The Israeli policy over recent years did not necessarily want to cultivate a Palestinian leadership... Many are in prison, and Israel's interest - because I repeat: it was not in their program or in Israel's interest at the time, or so they thought - was instead to divide the Palestinians and ensure that the Palestinian question fades. This Palestinian question will not fade. And so we must address it and find an answer. This is where we need courage. The use of force is a dead end. The moral condemnation of what Hamas did - and there's no "but" in my words regarding the moral condemnation of this horror - must not prevent us from moving forward politically and diplomatically in an enlightened manner. The law of retaliation is a never-ending cycle. [Presenter: The "eye for an eye, tooth for tooth".] Yes. That's why the political response must be defended by us. Israel has a right to self-defense, but this right cannot be indiscriminate vengeance. And there cannot be collective responsibility of the Palestinian people for the actions of a terrorist minority from Hamas. When you get into this cycle of finding faults, one side's memories clash with the other's. Some will juxtapose Israel's memories with the memories of the Nakba, the 1948 catastrophe, which is a disaster that the Palestinians still experience every day. So you can't break these cycles. We must have the strength, of course, to understand and denounce what happened, and from this standpoint, there's no doubt about our position. But we must also have the courage, and that's what diplomacy is... diplomacy is about being able to believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. And that's the cunning of history; when you're at the bottom, something can happen that gives hope. After the 1973 war, who would have thought that before the end of the decade, Egypt would sign a peace treaty with Israel? The debate shouldn't be about rhetoric or word choice. The debate today is about action; we must act. And when you think about action, there are two options. Either it's war, war, war. Or it's about trying to move towards peace, and I'll say it again, it's in Israel's interest. It's in Israel's interest!"

This morning, claims circulated on social media by various media outlets stating that during the night the United States attempted to restart Project Freedom under the cover of darkness. Throughout the afternoon, other claims emerged stating the opposite, that the US has not re-ignited Project Freedom. Regardless of how it is defined or labeled, evidence does indicate that one Greek-owned supertanker transited the Strait overnight. However, a few hours later, the UKMTO reported that a vessel had been struck with an unknown munition in the Gulf of Oman. Right now it's not clear as to if this is the same vessel that transited, or if this was a different ship. It is also not clear as to if this Greek supertanker was actually escorted by the United States, or merely guided over the radio (after paying the Iranian toll), or if the US was involved in this saga at all. These details might not ever be known with any certainty, but the situation remains tense all around as diplomatic efforts look less and less likely to come about anytime soon. The United States might indeed have attempted to sneak out a tanker or two once again, to have some justification for saying that the Iranians don't have control over the Strait...even if these vessels that have been "helped" by the US Navy might have actually been granted permission by the Iranians. This detail is not known, but it would be imperative to figure out as the distribution of power in the Middle East hangs in the balance. More practically for the American people and western Europe, the global fuel crisis continues as before. Following the truth coming out of no peace deal being on the table (along with the kinetic targeting overnight) oil prices rose to above $100 per barrel once again this morning. As we approach the end of May, it is important to remember that the high gas prices that are observed today...are actually artificially low. The United States has been draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) at an increasing rate since mid-March. This month, the US drained an additional 29 million barrels, which comes after draining another 20 million barrels in April. Similarly, China is also draining their own strategic oil reserves, and has cut their import of petroleum sharply with some estimates suggesting China has cut their imports by about 20% over the past few weeks. Now that the US and others are dipping into their strategic reserves at an increasing rate just to keep oil at roughly $100 per barrel, it's not clear when that supply will eventually dwindle enough to not be able to cover the true impacts the war is having on the energy sector.
