This man is a restaurant owner and he says that Door Dash is a completely different restaurant within a restaurant. Prices are higher when you order from them because Door Dash can take up to 30% from the business. So when you think you are helping that business by ordering from them through Door Dash, sometimes you aren’t. He also says that Door dash sometimes lets the food you ordered sit for for 20,30, even up to 45 minutes before they pick it up. So when you get it and it’s cold and call to complain, it was made on time but they were late. As he says, I know it’s a convenience but I don’t like paying and extra fee. And herring this from him, I don’t think I will ever use it. Why don’t these restaurants just cancel their contract with Door Dash? Do you use Door Dash? Will what he said change your mind about using them? What’s been your experience with them?

Status is interesting because it lives in the minds of other people. You don’t get to decide how much status you have. You can’t just say, “Hey, everyone, I have high status.” People will say, “Prove it.” And they’re the ones who get to decide. So why do we care about status? There’s a neuroscientist I really like, Michael Gazzaniga, who says that when you get up in the morning, you think about status. You think about where you stand in relation to other people. There’s actually a lot of research in neuroscience on what happens when the mind is at rest—when you’re not focused on a task and your thoughts start to drift. Scientists call this the “default mode network.” It’s a set of brain regions that become active when your mind is wandering. What’s striking is that these regions overlap with the ones involved in thinking about your social world—how you’re seen, how others are seen, where you fit in, how you’re evaluated. So when we have free time, when our minds wander, what do we think about? We think about exactly what Gazzaniga is pointing to. Status isn’t some abstract concern. It’s the background hum of thought, the thing your mind returns to when nothing else is demanding your attention.

When all we know is calories in versus calories out and move your ass harder at the gym, our body holds onto fat for dear life! Especially once we’re over 35 Especially once we’ve had children Especially when we’re in perimenopause or menopause Especially when we have no idea how to regulate our nervous system You see when your body does not feel safe , meaning it constantly is in fight or flight mode from all of the so-called dinosaurs chasing you every day, it won’t release the weight. Our bodies are actually very simple It’s just that they feel like they’re most important job is to keep you alive not thin 🤷‍♀️ So when you are constantly dealing with chronic stress every day, it shuts down your digestive track as well as disrupts your hormones and inflames your body, all to keep you alive. I know it seems counterproductive, but after all you are alive still, right! if you want to truly lose weight and keep it off and actually feel healthy enough to get good sleep and enjoy your life. It’s not going to be about calories in versus calories out. It’s not going to be about killing yourself in the gym.
