Split layout framework update. Since the last video: focus views animate, corner drags can move both axes, cross-window drag and drop with animation, all animations backed by CoreAnimation, and full accessibility framework integration (e.g. compat with VoiceOver). The focus view work was the hardest and most complicated. We allow caller-provided SwiftUI views for the focus style, but have to drop that back to a native AppKit/UIKit hosted view for smooth CoreAnimation integration with our other animations so they move in lock-step with our other stuff. Lot of work to get that to work, but I think it turned out great. The caller lives in easy SwiftUI land we handle that complexity. The animation timings and curves need to be tweaked. I think some animations are too long or don't feel right. But thats just parameterization at this point...

I don’t want to dwell too much on tactics and techniques, as I don’t like commenting too much on other nations ways of doing things and getting into who does what better or worse. What I do want to talk about however is the severe lack of regard for safety when in the ‘line of fire’ of fire effluents (smoke and so on - especially given the clear signs of something else being involved here due to flame colour, possibly copper sulphate or similar), last year in 2023 72% of International Association of Fire Fighters member line-of-duty deaths were due to occupational cancer. We are all now (or should be) aware of the risks we face, we should not be putting ourselves or our crews in situations like this. We also need to remember our kit can ‘off gas’ for a prolonged period post firefighting actions, therefore once the fire is out that does not mean the risk is over. I won’t name the fire service involved, but the fact they posted this willingly on their social media channels without anyone pointing out the obvious is not great (please don’t start naming and shaming as that’s not what this post is about). For those not aware of the risks, please look into the work completed by Fire Brigades Union and @UCLan, or people like John Lord of SimTrainer UK.

"You had very fine people on both sides..." If you only listen to that one sentence out of context, you will believe that he's equating white supremacists with protesters who want to take down monuments. But listen to the rest and you'll see that's a lie. Plenty of reasons to dislike and criticize Trump, but lies in the end only cause distrust. They might work for a while, but eventually people will discover that they are being taken for fools. And you won't get that trust back. Leaving off essential context IS a type of a lie. And this far from the only example. This happens every day towards all sorts of people who are not Trump. Look for the full unedited clip, always. Once I started doing that, my eyes opened. It was a big part of my journey and why I speak openly about things today. I don't hate journalism or journalists. I love both...when they do their job properly. When they don't, we are failed as a society on a massive level. Today, when I hear an accusation that someone like Trump said something insane, my reaction is to set aside my biases and verify. I don't believe or disbelieve it until I can check (sometimes it is true!). But repeated deception has led so many people to just reject everything the mainstream media says wholesale, even when it's true. They shouldn't, they should verify. But that's the reality. If you only listen to that one sentence out of context, you will believe that he's equating white supremacists with protesters who want to take down monuments. But listen to the rest and you'll see that's a lie. Plenty of reasons to dislike and criticize Trump, but lies in the end only cause distrust. They might work for a while, but eventually people will discover that they are being taken for fools. And you won't get that trust back. Leaving off essential context IS a type of a lie. And this far from the only example. This happens every day towards all sorts of people who are not Trump. Look for the full unedited clip, always. Once I started doing that, my eyes opened. It was a big part of my journey and why I speak openly about things today. I don't hate journalism or journalists. I love both...when they do their job properly. When they don't, we are failed as a society on a massive level. Today, when I hear an accusation that someone like Trump said something insane, my reaction is to set aside my biases and verify. I don't believe or disbelieve it until I can check (sometimes it is true!). But repeated deception has led so many people to just reject everything the mainstream media says wholesale, even when it's true. They shouldn't, they should verify. But that's the reality. "I don't care how broke I am. I will never want extra hours at a job. I will never cover for anyone. I really want to work as least as possible... I would rather be extremely broke with free time than rich and working all the time. I really hate working... I think I'd be better off as a farmer or as a landscaper. I'd like that better 'cuz it's actual work." And of course her Instagram page is full of videos/photos of vacationing and partying. We have an issue particularly among younger generations in which they're brought up spoiled, they attempt to live a luxury life with their parents money, they are lazy, and they don't want to do any work or contribute to society in any way. Yes, one might not like their job, but it's life and you have to live with it and make money instead of being an entitled lazy bum. If your job is so bad, then you can always get another one. And if you don't like either of those then you can always start your own side hustle type business to make money. One has to be an extremely spoiled arrogant entitled bum to be constantly partying and vacation since they were in high school, and then once they get into the work field complain about how they don't want to do any work (but of course she wants to just be a farmer or landscaper since nobody else contributes to society and her lazy ass would definitely do all the work required for such jobs).

Rogin: This is the most unpopular war in American history by far, and for good reason. And the way that these things work is that the longer that it goes on, the popularity goes down, not up over time. And that is a calamity for the Republican party. But that's not what's important right now. What's important is that it's a calamity for the United States of America, for our national security, for our alliances abroad, for putting our troops in danger with no clear strategy of what achieves a victory and how to get them out of there. And how does this end? And without any of those answers, everybody can see that the administration is flailing about. And the way we know they have no strategy because the strategy changes every single day with various justifications that don't make any sense when compared to one another. And that's where we are. And that's a pretty sad state of affairs. And yes, that's going to be terrible for Republicans in November, but that's really not the most worst thing about it. And Donald Trump doesn't seem to care about that anyway.
