NIO Firefly hatchback - quick walk-around with the CEO Firefly has just released a short video with Firefly CEO talking about the design of the Firefly. The video features a gray car with a black roof. Firefly is positioned as a high-end electric car brand and will be sold in China, Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia. Launch on the Chinese car market is set for April 2025. The pre-order price is 148.800 yuan or $20.4K. Firefly cars will be sold via NIO dealers and via separate experience stores. Firefly will have its own separate battery-swap-station network, with container-sized swapping stations, much smaller than the current NIO swap stations. As far as we know, NIO hasn't started the construction of this new network yet, busy as the company is with expanding and improving its current network. Lisa Su explains why, for at least the next few years, $AMD and $NVDA GPUs will continue to dominate the AI accelerator market. “ASICs like $GOOGL TPUs are great, but they don’t offer anywhere near the same programmability or model flexibility that GPUs provide. AI is at least a 10-year cycle, and we’re only in year two. Being so early, software developers want the flexibility to innovate on different algorithms.” Even as ASICs become competitive for inference, GPUs are on another level. $AMD and $NVDA are set to keep thriving in the years ahead.
