Most Ghanaians today would have hated Nkrumah but our social studies books and the hero worship Nkrumah created around himself has made discussing Nkrumah an emotional topic. Under Nkrumah, you couldn't criticise him. The media was not allowed to publish anything negative. His political opponents were jailed. And private business was difficult. Most of the factories and state institutions had failed due to corruption, nepotism and incompetence in the 1960s. Talking about the ills of Nkrumah today seem likes talking about a religious figure. I hope one day our social studies books will show us the good and bad of each government from 1957. Show us all the records of each government across all sectors, the projects they started, those they inherited, when each was completed, the length of years each had and the amount of wealth each had. May be then, we would have an open mind about the Nkrumah conversation.

In his March 1961 address to the UN General Assembly, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah strongly condemned the United Nations for the assassination of Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba. He described Lumumba’s mùrder as unique in history, as it occurred in the presence of UN forces, whom Lumumba had invited to restore law and order. President Nkrumah charged that the UN had failed in its duty, denying the legitimate Congolese government the means of self-defense and enabling Belgian-backed rebels to kìll him. - Attached is an explanatory video detailing the circumstances that led to Patrice Lumumba’s overthrow on September 14, 1960, and his murder in January 17, 1961, in Kantanga province. Lumumba’s bôdy was hàcked into pieces, dissolved in concéntrated sulfuric acìd, and what remained was bùrned and the ashes scattered to destroy all evidence and prevent any burial site or martyrdom symbol from existing.

When I say that the monetary order is breaking down, I mean that fiat currencies and debt as a storehold of wealth are not being held by central banks in the same way they were in the recent past. That reality is largely being driven by the same forces that drive The Big Cycle. Today, we know that both the holders of US dollar denominated debt (other countries) and those who need it (the US) are worried about each other for geopolitical reasons. That becomes a big problem when you’re producing a lot of debt — which the US continues to do.
