This scene tells me just how much the writers understand how the green lantern works.

On one hand, it's very possible the writers never picked up a DC comic before; in that same logic though, the ring should've flown off a long time ago. On the other hand, suspend your disbelief for the whole 2 minutes that is this scene, and Green Lantern King Shark goes hard.
