American here. So I look at Americans as Americans, just Americans, but society tells me I need to sub category everyone for some damn reason. Remember when Oprah interviewed that woman who said she saw herself as just American and not African-American.. and then Oprah freaked on her for dare seeing herself as simply an American? That’s why, we don’t want to.. that’s not an us thing.

There are a few lies actually or it’s just ignorance. Black people aren’t from Africa at all. Black people are actual Americans. Also, these Europeans aren’t American at all. They are European US citizens and that goes from anyone else who isn’t American. It’s an ethnicity

If you look at our founding documents and law only “white person of good moral….” Can be American. No need to prefix it with European or white because they’re the only actual Americans.
