@eLDeeTheDon “Many people will gatekeep ‘luxury’ because inaccessibility makes them feel superior. The moment others have access to things they deem to be luxurious, they lose value in their eyes because it limits their ability to use it as a status symbol”.

@eLDeeTheDon Best gift you can give your self is knowledge.

@eLDeeTheDon They rarely emphasize this in religious houses, but it is the Messiah’s true gospel: "Love your neighbor as yourself." This is a call for community, not capitalism and unhealthy competition. We need to start thinking and acting as a community and not competitors.

This is the most accurate submission I’ve ever seen!! This reminds me of when Zics Aloma said his biggest financial mistake was when he bought a Range Rover for 30m, spent 10m on repairs within three months and sold the car for 10m. If he had gone for “functionality” rather than societal expectations, he’d have saved money and time!

@eLDeeTheDon My life isn't hard ...once I notice how you worship people based on their wealth I stay away . The mentality of most Nigerians is skewed .

@eLDeeTheDon We even have generators called I beta pass my neighbour this part hit me hard

@eLDeeTheDon I miss when products were designed to actually satisfy a need. These days products are designed to satisfy a Trend. "Trending" is the hallmark of Capitalism and Consumerism

@eLDeeTheDon Our people truly need a shift in mentality. If we embraced selfless commitment to growth and community development instead of perpetual competition, a lot could actually change for Nigeria & Nigerians.

@eLDeeTheDon We once had a Nigeria where people like these dominated the music scene until colos boys took over as celebrities. Wouldn't you rather have someone like this as role model for your kids or you prefer Grammy award winners without sense? Just asking

@eLDeeTheDon Is this a sign? Our team is literally building this rn.

@eLDeeTheDon If anyone wants to change this society with this mentality, he has to be ruthless to those who are custodians of this mentality, And also ensure that he can leave lasting institutions to sustain the new order, and at the end, transition to something greater, other than power.

@eLDeeTheDon This is the conversation we actually need in Naija right now.Not more 'I better pass my neighbour' nonsense. Big respect to Eldee for still speaking this truth after all these years. We hear you, sir.

@eLDeeTheDon Capitalism go soon cast, when the masses becomes consciously aware of the net negativity of capitalism’s social engineering in the society…….. hopefully I get to see that drifting change in my lifetime. I know Thats some crazy optimism there.

@eLDeeTheDon Capitalism didn't do that Humans did Plus it has always been that way All fingers have never been equal Tired of this capitalism haters If not capitalism then what Socialism? Communism? Why do you think USSR and other nations like them fell or switched from socialism???

@eLDeeTheDon That's why I always say that in order for Nigeria to change, the government won't be the ones to fully effect the change. We as a people also need to change the way we view life. The Nigerian people need a mentality shift, and that shift is not going to come from the government.

@eLDeeTheDon Crowd mentality. MI said something close to this as far back as 2008, but I think it got even worse down the line. We need serious reorientation, or else classism will be our achilles heel. Thank you, Don, for lending your voice.

@eLDeeTheDon CORRECTION: When too many people have prosperity, the BMW is no longer a unique sighting. That doesn’t mean the BMW isn’t valuable. It’s just not as special anymore. “E don cast” doesn’t mean I don’t want it. It just means it’s now very common and no longer as aspirational.

@eLDeeTheDon “When your selfworth comes from comparison, helping others feels like you are losing”. That’s deep!

@eLDeeTheDon @eLDeeTheDon its about more than 50 years in this struggle its been a long time we've been on this hustle its almost as if say we no wan grow my brother people dey lead us just to make dough

@eLDeeTheDon Great piece BUT Tori mo joko sinu Bentley Porsche ati Hummer Lao Lao spending Pounds ati dollar I’m a Big Boy They hating on me cos I’m a big boy

@eLDeeTheDon I preach this so often. THE I BETTER PASS MY NEIGHBOUR mentality of the average Nigerian. The DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM syndrome. No lies here. That's who we are culturally. That's why we can't get beyond where we are collectively. And it's not gonna go away from us. It's innate.

@eLDeeTheDon 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 The brains and personalities that entertained my generation... . @eLDeeTheDon Oga Kwata-Kwata! . @eLDeeTheDon Shugaban Kasa-Kasa!!

@eLDeeTheDon it’s funny how we can’t even quantify how deep rooted classism runs in our culture, because some these sayings are older than even our parents.

@eLDeeTheDon I agree with everything about self worth being placed on material things. The problem isn't on Capitalism, Communism/Socialism is in no way, shape or form better. Regardless of the system, Humans will always find a way to exploit it. It's a human problem not a system problem

@AbiolaGoId @eLDeeTheDon He really couldn’t have said it better. Big ups big Don

@eLDeeTheDon Some things correct; other things very wrong. Being the head doesn’t mean others have to be tail for that to happen. Life is a race; at the end of the day; everyone is running.

@eLDeeTheDon Why blame capitalism for Humans error.

@eLDeeTheDon "Some are in the prison, some are in the mortuary, some can't eat, let's thank God we are not among them"

@eLDeeTheDon All we do is talk, agree on the things limiting us. When do we start doing these things we talk about, I wonder

@eLDeeTheDon It’s like my slogan and anthem for this year henceforth: Don’t leave anyone in poverty or suffering ! Not Datiemo alone, Chop make I Chop! , Give me constructive futuristic updates for good opportunities that will eradicate poverty in the nearest future. #WaleOloko 🤚🙏🏼💪

@eLDeeTheDon this is not just a nigerian thing. if you understand pierre bourdieu’s concept on taste you will relate and understand this video very well

@eLDeeTheDon His only mistake is thinking we don’t see things clearly. We chose this path we’re on. We weren’t deceived, we aren’t that ignorant, we chose. We are our own problem.

@eLDeeTheDon My prof owns a construction company. I visited him there one day and asked him, why teach when you own a company? He said ”our people value teachers more than millionaires”.

@eLDeeTheDon We have lost our morals here in Africa.. We have lost who we are in Africa.. Yet we seek for better governance from people who were once like us.. Just imagine someone producing fake hollandia yourghurt and selling it in Lagos... It's a shame we all want to be okay

@eLDeeTheDon It’s always been like that bro . Humans have always measured by what you have.
