89 Years ago there was an attempted coup d'état by Kōdōha (Imperial Way Faction) a radical faction within Imperial Japan led by General Sadao Araki & supported by Junior officers. Idealogically the Kōdōha was Ultranationalist & opposed Hideaki Tojo's moderate Tōseiha Faction. Kōdōha Faction saw the Soviet Union as the biggest threat not the US & believed that the Tōseiha Faction would destroy the Empire by diluting the Emperor's power by siding with the corrupt Zaibatsu. Kōdōha Faction wanted to bring about the Showa Restoration, State Shintoism in it's purest form without bureaucratic corruption. Unfortunately the Kōdōha Faction failed, the Tōseiha Faction won & their prediction came true. We shall never their sacrifices & their slogan "Revere the Emperor, Destroy the Traitors" 🇯🇵
