I grew up jitterbugging every Saturday morning with my mom and siblings during weekly house chores. Mom was a dancer and all of us girls went into training very young. My girls didn't have the formal training but I continued the tradition and they know these dancing styles.

That’s awesome My grandparents were always going to dances on the weekends. Unfortunately their dancing skill didn’t trickle down. 😢

My children and I were raised with music on instead of the tv. We break out in dance like we have an odd form of Tourette's. Doesn't matter where. Home, school, the grocery store, airport. It's a problem 😂 I was actually put in dance and gymnastics at age 3. For medical reasons

I credit gymnastics for my mobility now. I was DX'ed with an aggressive autoimmune condition, Scleroderma, at 3. It toughens tissue. Being so active and training in my youth gave me unexpected flexibility & built core strength that has kept me out of a wheelchair for 50yrs

I wish dancing and gymnastics wasn't so out of reach for so many. Unsurprisingly, insurance for the gyms and studios are a huge obstacle.

I did not inherit it, but my mother had it. Even though she had emphysema from years of smoking, her doctor told me that she still had the flexibility of 16-year-old. I think that explains it all.

Yes, they do, very similar. The dance is called the Shag. Myrtle Beach has a festival every year, and shaggers from all over participate. I have been to many. They dance to beach music.

Believe it or not, with the explosion of Ai, there are a LOT of YouTube creators who have live swing jazz and evening swing jazz. Just like the late 30s and 40s. If you search for "Live vintage swing jazz" you'll find the music.
