The Supreme Court has directed the UP District Magistrate to appear before it and explain why the administration issued a show-cause notice to a young college-going protestor and demanded a personal bond of ₹5 lakh from him. Court clarified, the count of cases & claims, by itself, does not prove WRONGDOING. A shocking case of administrative negligence has come to light from Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district, where a man was allegedly jailed for nearly a year under the National Security Act (#NSA) due to a typing error in an official order. During the hearing, government officials admitted before the High Court that the detention order mistakenly carried the petitioner's name instead of the intended accused. The State also informed the Court that disciplinary action has been initiated against the concerned clerk.
