No. Nope and nope. Nutcases like this should not be teaching children.

It’s not enough that 66% of 4th graders are at or below the minimum basic reading standard (and many likely couldn’t define what a pronoun is) - numbers that have barely changed in 30 years. It’s the teachers duty to confuse them even more by using plural references when addressing a specific individual and prioritizing contemporary labels over reading proficiency. Fire this teacher and anyone else who brings this garbage into their failing classrooms.
