I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but elections are actually announced WAY ahead of time. In fact, with few exceptions, they're held on the exact same day each year. It's crazy stuff. So, if you want to vote in the 2026 midterms for example, you have 21 months to figure this out. Maybe, in light of that, these requirements aren't quite too burdensome to verify that our elections are secure.

Abby Phillip questions if non-citizens voting in NJ is really fraud, because they may not have known they weren't supposed to vote. This is the actual argument they've been reduced to: Phillip: They might have cast a ballot because they just weren't aware that they were incorrectly put on the voter rolls. Jennings: They weren't aware that they weren't a citizen of the United States? Phillip: Is this is this accurately described as fraud when none of these people tried to register to vote? Jennings: They cast ballots! Phillip: Some people who are ineligible to vote are not aware that they are ineligible to vote.
