When we started game development in the 80s, we hired a lot of professional animators from film studios. So I had plenty of opportunity to watch them work. It is an insane amount of work to produce just 1 minute of a movie by hand. So, yeah recycle! Especially if it is that good.

It gets worse. Remember "Shere Khan"? Not actually voiced by a Tiger. I was devastated. /s Honestly, classic Disney is one heck of a horrible rabbit hole - 100% worth it, though.

Baloo from Jungle Book and Little John in Robin Hood are basically the exact same character model, voice actor, everything. Animation in the 60s and 70s was very hacky, even at Disney

I mean... They were actually drawn by hand, can we really blame them? It's funny watching the scenes side by side like that though. Too bad Disney went all woke.

Why not? This is normal for animators working by hand - after all, there were no computers and equipment then, the artists drew each frame with their hands! Imagine how great this work was! Using sketches for such animation is an absolutely adequate and reasonable way to save time and resources.

On the other hand, never let good pencil work go to waste

The west lives from its legacy for decades already.
