You are not alone, I do this as well hahah I just don't like the sharpness of the selection tool, I prefer to use the eraser with a brush that matches the kind of edges I'm trying to get. NOBODY notices but me completely zoomed in, but doing it with lasso just irks me.

a. Procreate selection tool is garbage to begin with. My main disappointment in this program. b. Erasing with the same brush you are drawing or the lineart brush preserves the texture. It’s especially important if you like textured/grungy/uneven brushes, not g-pen like ones.

I would use the freeform selection tool to trace the outline and delete the excess that way but there is a zen “pressure washer simulator” style relaxing element to doing it this way too.

I do sometimes selection a little away from the outline so that i have some freedom for texture with a millimetre of what remains. it’s easier to work with too

You're more accurate this way. The selection tool also leaves pixel trash behind.

You're not doing it right if you aren't holding your breath as you do.

The real psychopath test is knowing whether or not you're using the eraser here or if you're painting white over the "erased" bits. I fear no creature more than the artist who paints without layers.

Guilty of it too. Something about it feels more "sculpted" -esque. Or earned, like a successful reward after an internal battle with finding form.

Why psychopath? That's the normal thing to do, Selection tool is fine but doesn't do the thing. Correcting under the sketch is way better

Thats exactly how I do it too, it feels like you can sculpt the edge of your paint much better. For extra psychopath points, i often even just use a brush with white paint, even tho an eraser would be the cleaner alternative

I do the same... in the fine details.... then I get bored with erasing.... it also makes nearly invisible fragments a problem when adding a layer effect.... so there's that!

Id do this too. The output is not the end outcome, it is really the process so I enjoy it as much as I can.
