When times were tough and winds weren’t in their favor they would occasionally row. It’s accurately symbolic unless there were literally no oar or paddles on the boats at all.
The best part about this…he’s also dead fucking wrong. The Vikings literally rowed their ships up rivers, as far inland as places like Paris.
