Satoshi Roundtable is later this week. Tech Talk Tuesdays in Dubai asked me about the upcoming event: “My hope is that have for this week is that we embrace what this industry is all about. It’s not about Blackrock, or CBDCs or the filthy broken fiat system - it’s about an alternative to that. A lot of people can point to many broken things in our world. And the root of what is broken is because of the broken money system. The money system is broken. There is death and destruction because of a broken money system and what this technology represents is something different than that. It’s an alternate to that. And that’s what makes it unique and that’s what makes it valuable.”

At a Home Depot, a shopper browsing the clearance aisle spots several items originally priced at $150 marked down to $0.01. Curious, he takes four of them to self-checkout and scans them, each rings up for a penny. As he’s finishing, an employee rushes over and says he needs manager approval before purchasing. July 27 2025 11:36am Location 24th & Mission When Items get stolen from Target Walgreens and Macy’s and any other stores, are if you’re car was broken into, in the luggage was stolen, then those items would end up at one of these outposts, that barter in stolen goods. You have one Media outlet in San Francisco named (Mission Local) that promotes this as a Swap Meet they fail to call it for what it is, a place where you can buy stolen goods at. All this is being driven by the drug crisis. Because someone that’s drug addicted would steal the items and sale it for cheap to buy more drugs.

Apparently there is a store you can go to that sells the lost luggage and belongings left on planes. The items are sold at a deep discount like a thrift store. I never knew they were allowed to sell items that weren’t theirs, even if it’s unclaimed like a suitcase, most of the time they have their names on it and a little investigation could lead to who the owner is. Do you agree that if they spent more time locating the owner they shouldn’t have to sell people’s belongings especially if they didn’t even know they left it behind?

This is a fascinating local initiative that I saw today in China, visiting another community center with Frieda Li and my wife in Urumqi. They've put in place a point system whereby you can earn points if you actively participate in the community, or do a good deed. For instance if you find a lost item and give it to the community's "lost and found", or give a suggestion to improve the community that gets accepted, you earn 5 points. As you can see on the video, you can then redeem these points for items they have in store: toys, food items, electronics, etc. To be clear, this is a local initiative of this specific community center which has absolutely nothing to do with the so-called "social credit score", which as a reminder is a myth and doesn't exist. We're in the Guyuanxiang Community Center (固原巷社区党群服务中心), in the Tianshan District (天山区) of Ürümqi.

Yesterday, I passed by a subway entrance in Guangzhou and experienced a retail kiosk operated by a humanoid robot again, buying a bottle of water. The process was the same: select items on a screen, scan a QR code for mobile payment, and the humanoid robot retrieves the product. (However, it didn't interact with me at all.) I looked it up, and the wheeled humanoid robot is named S1, from AutoLife Robotics in Shenzhen. It uses omnidirectional wheels for movement and a lifting body. It's 1-1.6m tall, weighs 72kg, and has a 10-hour battery life. A single arm can carry 3-5kg. Furthermore, this humanoid robot is suitable for lightweight tasks in retail, convenience stores, supermarkets, and warehouse sorting.

Introducing TODAY - WE HAVE REBRANDED, an AI powered NPC simulation game. I have played this game for a week or two now and my favorite part has to be engaging and interacting with the NPCs on any topic or conversation. The in-game mechanics keep you engaged at all times, you cannot get bored for a second, it is fun and challenging with lots of cool items to craft and a large map to explore. really looking forward to the finished product.
