Have you ever seen a floor that is raised above the concrete floor? That is called a raised floor or raised access floor. It creates space beneath for electrical and data cables, internet lines, and other building services. The biggest advantage is flexibility. For example, in an office, data center, or bank, you may need to move cables or add new ones in the future. With a raised floor, you can lift the access panel and work underneath without breaking the floor. This is why they are commonly useful in: Data centers, large offices, banks, control rooms, telecom buildings, laboratories, and other buildings with many services. And yes, a raised floor can be very strong. But don't assume that every raised floor can carry heavy loads. The panels, pedestals, supports, and spacing must be designed based on the items to be placed on the floor. A data center with heavy server racks will require a different specification from a normal office. So, should every building have a raised floor? No. For a simple residential building with very few services, it may just be an unnecessary extra cost. The point is simple: Don't use a construction system because it looks modern. Use it because it solves a problem. When you have many services, frequent changes, and a need for easy maintenance, a raised floor can be a very smart solution. Good architecture is knowing where to use it and where not to.

It’s not about Blackrock, or CBDCs or the filthy broken fiat system - it’s about an alternative to that. A lot of people can point to many broken things in our world. And the root of what is broken is because of the broken money system. The money system is broken. There is death and destruction because of a broken money system and what this technology represents is something different than that. It’s an alternate to that. And that’s what makes it unique and that’s what makes it valuable.”

At a Home Depot, a shopper browsing the clearance aisle spots several items originally priced at $150 marked down to $0.01. Curious, he takes four of them to self-checkout and scans them, each rings up for a penny. As he’s finishing, an employee rushes over and says he needs manager approval before purchasing. She walks away to get one. While she’s gone, he completes the transaction and pays. When she returns, she scolds him and tries to take the items back. Police are eventually called. After reviewing the receipt and rescanning the items, officers tell him the price stands and he’s free to leave with his purchase. It’s a tough balance between honoring posted prices and preventing system errors from costing businesses thousands. At the same time, once a transaction is completed legally, it becomes a matter of policy and fairness. Situations like this show how important clear pricing rules and calm communication, really are. If a store’s system rings something up at a penny, is the customer entitled to it, or does the store have the right to correct what may be a pricing mistake?

July 27 2025 11:36am Location 24th & Mission When Items get stolen from Target Walgreens and Macy’s and any other stores, are if you’re car was broken into, in the luggage was stolen, then those items would end up at one of these outposts, that barter in stolen goods. You have one Media outlet in San Francisco named (Mission Local) that promotes this as a Swap Meet they fail to call it for what it is, a place where you can buy stolen goods at. All this is being driven by the drug crisis. Because someone that’s drug addicted would steal the items and sale it for cheap to buy more drugs.

Apparently there is a store you can go to that sells the lost luggage and belongings left on planes. The items are sold at a deep discount like a thrift store. I never knew they were allowed to sell items that weren’t theirs, even if it’s unclaimed like a suitcase, most of the time they have their names on it and a little investigation could lead to who the owner is. Do you agree that if they spent more time locating the owner they shouldn’t have to sell people’s belongings especially if they didn’t even know they left it behind?

This is a fascinating local initiative that I saw today in China, visiting another community center with Frieda Li and my wife in Urumqi. They've put in place a point system whereby you can earn points if you actively participate in the community, or do a good deed. For instance if you find a lost item and give it to the community's "lost and found", or give a suggestion to improve the community that gets accepted, you earn 5 points. As you can see on the video, you can then redeem these points for items they have in store: toys, food items, electronics, etc. To be clear, this is a local initiative of this specific community center which has absolutely nothing to do with the so-called "social credit score", which as a reminder is a myth and doesn't exist. We're in the Guyuanxiang Community Center (固原巷社区党群服务中心), in the Tianshan District (天山区) of Ürümqi.

He knows “penny items” usually mean damaged or discontinued products that employees are supposed to pull from the shelves, but it was still sitting there. He pays the penny, prints the receipt, and starts to leave. An employee rushes over, frustrated, saying those items aren’t meant to be sold and should have been removed. Penny pricing is often a system signal, not a public sale. But from a customer’s perspective, if it’s on the shelf and the register accepts payment, it feels like a completed contract. The real issue might be better inventory control because confusion at checkout only creates tension on both sides. If an item scans for a penny and the transaction goes through, should the store honor the price, or does internal policy override what the register says?

Yesterday, I passed by a subway entrance in Guangzhou and experienced a retail kiosk operated by a humanoid robot again, buying a bottle of water. The process was the same: select items on a screen, scan a QR code for mobile payment, and the humanoid robot retrieves the product. (However, it didn't interact with me at all.) I looked it up, and the wheeled humanoid robot is named S1, from AutoLife Robotics in Shenzhen. It uses omnidirectional wheels for movement and a lifting body. It's 1-1.6m tall, weighs 72kg, and has a 10-hour battery life. A single arm can carry 3-5kg. Furthermore, this humanoid robot is suitable for lightweight tasks in retail, convenience stores, supermarkets, and warehouse sorting.

I have played this game for a week or two now and my favorite part has to be engaging and interacting with the NPCs on any topic or conversation. The in-game mechanics keep you engaged at all times, you cannot get bored for a second, it is fun and challenging with lots of cool items to craft and a large map to explore. really looking forward to the finished product.
