The fuel will act as a solvent and just destroy any adhesive that was in the boat . Got diesel on my boots during a clean up from a fuel island like this and like a day later my boots just fell apart .

Hey, I had an ex-wife put an ENTIRE case of oil through a valve cover once to "fill it up"....the car looked like a tire fire when she got home. There was smoke and oil EVERYWHERE.

When I was a kid I heard a story about a woman who did the same thing with an old cabin cruiser. Filled the bilge with fumes. Started the engine and blew herself up.
