Methyl B12 should only be used as an injectable form, short term. The methyl form is designed to be made intracellularly under a tightly regulated system. The form of B12 that preferentially enters the cell is HydroxyCobalamin and is much more stable than methyl B12. Hydroxy is also the only B12 that detoxifies cyanide, unregulated nitric oxide, ammonia and sulfite. Hydroxy readily converts to methyl and Adenosyl B12, on demand, as needed, regulated by your individual chemistry. Excess Methyl B12 can disrupt the balance of methylation and many people experience adverse response to excess methyl B12 including formation of methyl mercury when taken orally.
