Superficial take. He was more Wow, but not more consistent. He killed drives with some of his improvisation. Boom or bust. Emmitt won games and extended drives.

Been a Cowboys fan for over 35 years. Love Emmitt Smith! But this is unequivocally the correct take. Barry Sanders is THE greatest football player to ever live. Full stop. That man could make an entire defense miss in a phone booth. Never been another like him.

Smith played for two teams to get the record. He wasn't going to get the record in Dallas. Barry played nines season. The rushing record was in sight. Barry never cared about records. Only cared about team success.
