Bleeding kyber crystals is stupid. There is no change other than the colour. It was much better when red crystals were synthetic because the jedi guarded all the crystal caves.

At the very least the comics showed this process required a lot of effort for Darth Vader it's a literal battle against the natural Force. Any other adaptation makes it look easy to save time.

I found the idea of bleeding stupid, while the jedi had natural and connected crystals the sith had unnatural blades. It was just another point in why the darkside was corruption. There was nothing natural about it and why the balance needed them destroyed.

I think the bleeding thing could have been interesting if it was actually done on the crystal. I think there was a comic where Vader did just that but all other manner of bleeding has been ridiculous with them holding the hilt and then it randomly changes color.
