To evade the political persecution of artists in the McCarthy era, Scott moved to Paris in the late 1950s and performed in France, not returning to the United States until 1967. When she turned 18, they not only sold her to an older man, but also forced her to go into the strip club. When Rachelle met her, she was 18 years old and had no idea that there was kindness in the world. Rachelle began getting to know her and showing up in small ways. She shared with Rachelle how she didn't have food for her daughter. Rachelle would show up with food and eventually, this led her to come to church with her. She ended up giving her life to the Lord after a few times of attending church. However, that next week, she was back in the club. Rachelle said she immediately, as soon as she saw her, dropped to the floor and covered herself. She asked, "Are you okay? Like, what's going on?" The women responded, "For the first time, I actually feel naked." That day, she walked out of the clubs and left. Rachelle and her team helped her get into a transitional living program with her daughter and she is now a licensed counselor at a drug treatment facility—walking alongside other women who have similar stories.
