Not infrequently, I met people who say, 'John I support almost everything the Libertarian Party stands for but not your pro drug policy.' This is usually based on a misunderstanding of our policy. We are not pro drugs. We are against the state micromanaging our lives. A state so...

I disagreed with a few policies of Libertarian after looking at the evidence they used to make their policy i changed my mind. Libertarian are the only party to make policy based on evidence. Pill testing is something i agree with yet taxpayers shouldn't fund it.

We need to legalise weed and we need to workout what tolerance is acceptable for driving purposes.

Well said John, the drug laws are a joke. Peoples lives are literally being destroyed not by the drugs, but the laws. I remember back when I was young, you always knew when there was pot around, everyone was happy.

It should just be legalised. Imagine the police resources you make available when you don’t have to police drugs. If less things are illegal, you get less crime. It’s rather simple really.

Big government has gone the other way. They have banned vapes, snuss, dip .. if the government won't let grown adults consume a harmless drug like nicotine, I doubt they will ever legalise anything else.

Just to remind everyone, that the Rubicon has already been crossed; during the scamdemic, people did indeed receive knocks on the door for their Facebook posts.

Again proving the “Libertarians” are frauds. First opportunity to actually move towards deregulating something and John chickens out. RWNJs pandering to the usual conservative base.

The 'war on drugs' is over - drugs won. Criminalising drugs means the worst criminals make endless billions. Prohibition makes a problem worse.

All Prohibition does is fund organized crime and terrorism. It doesn’t stop people from taking drugs. We would also rather free up police resources to catch pedo’s, rapists & murders rather than harass Harry the Hippie.

"We are in favour of privately organised campaigns to warn of the obvious dangers related to drug use"...what like "the privately organised campaigns" to warn of the dangers of wind farms, 5G & 15 minute cities? 😆😂 We live in an age of misinformation. Are you serious?

I would agree except that we have socialised medicine. The taxpayer is forced to pay for other people’s healthcare. And if they are drug takers, as a whole that pushes up the cost of healthcare and increases taxes. Thereby depriving someone of their earnings. It’s Theft

Of course, there's significant danger in overreach, but using the above logic, does the government have no role in governing society at all? In my view, the government needs to uphold the standards of God's law - which is where I gather I & the libetarians digress.

Personal use of alcohol and drugs fuels crime. About 50% of all domestic violence crime is by people under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Substance abuse is the largest precipitator of violence in adults and adolescents,

When Zack Polanski calmly called for the legalisation and regulation of drugs, to move distribution from criminal gangs to the state e.g. the NHS Carole Malone shouted out a number of objections which were mostly based on half truths, outright lies, and misinformation Here are some of the key points of clarification: ➡️ Portugal decriminalised drugs in 2001, there is no evidence that they plan to reverse this ➡️ Individuals caught with drugs are typically referred to a "Dissuasion Commission" composed of social workers, medical professionals, and legal experts, who may recommend treatment or impose fines, but not criminal penalties ➡️ Portugal's example is such a success that other countries are looking to replicate it e.g. Ireland ➡️ Malone was right to say that between 2000 and 2015 there was a 30x increase in hospitalizations associated with cannabis use. But this isn't viewed as a failure of the policy, it has led to evaluating and tweaking the policy for better outcomes ➡️ There is no evidence that decriminalising drugs in Portugal has led to an increase in the number of child deaths. Instead, the 2001 decriminalisation of drugs has led to a decrease in the number of drug related deaths. Before 2001 they had 131, and in 2008 they had 20 ➡️ Portugal's drug death toll was among the lowest in the EU, at 3 per million, compared to the EU average of 17.3 per million ➡️ The Washington Post's July 2023 investigation into Portugal's drug decriminalization policy did not conclude that the approach has failed, but it highlighted emerging challenges e.g. the rise of drug use in tourist areas of Porto, or the underfunding of services to help those on drugs with sometimes year long waits to get help ➡️ The Washington Post credited the policy pointing out that deaths from drug use has dropped significantly, there's a huge drop in HIV transmission from drug use, and it has reduced the number of people jailed for drug-related offences ➡️ The King’s College London report Malone referred to does indeed refer to the dangers of drugs, but it refers to the dangers of illicit and illegal drugs in the UK, and not the impact of drugs in countries where drug use has been legalised, like in Portugal ➡️ Malone claimed that drug scams through airports are on the rise in countries where drug use is legal as people do not want to pay tax on their drug use. Trafficking drugs through any airport remains illegal. And in the case of Portugal, there has not been an increase in drugs taken through airports to avoid paying domestic drug taxes Zack Polanski remained calm and composed throughout Carole Malone's repeated shouty interruptions. It's as if she was trying to cover up the poor use of information to get an ideological point across with the brashness I would like to think that Carole Malone, like Zack Polanski, and most people would like to see drug use drop to improve people's lives in society. On that much we can probably agree. But as this one exchange showed, you can either use data and facts to make your point, or you can shout over other people spewing misinformation. The latter may appear more sincere because of the expressed emotion, but it's really the former that will lead to and drive meaningful change

My team and I have been working furiously for the last few months to establish the foundations of a political party which is capable of saving our United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 🇬🇧. I am delighted to launch that party today: Advance UK. The party will stand for the entire country in all its parts and for all its people. We will fight for nation, freedom of speech, democracy and equality before the law. We will not flinch. We will not pander to false narratives designed to damage our country. We will be for the British people and by the British people. The party will itself be democratic. We will assemble the brightest and bravest in our college and executive. They will work tirelessly, without fear or favour, to formulate the policies and recruit the candidates required to fulfil our mission. If our country is to be saved it must be saved by its people. No one person is capable of doing so. Only by assembling the best and bravest can we succeed. Today I am calling on you to join our party. Our first goal is to achieve 30,000 members. We are discounting our membership fee to £10 per annum until that goal is achieved. When it is, we will have the required support to become a fully fledged party. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with you. When we get to 30,000 members, I will donate £100,000 to the party to ensure we have the fire power to move forward. #WATCH | Chennai, Tamil Nadu: DMK MLAs staged a walkout while Chief Minister Vijay was addressing the State Assembly CM Vijay said, "There can be no difference of opinion on the need to maintain law and order properly. We will ensure that it is maintained. We will not tolerate women being harmed. We are taking action and will continue to take action to curb drug abuse. This is not a problem that emerged today; it is an issue that has existed for many years. When opposition members raise this issue, it does not appear to be a genuine concern. Instead, it appears to be a blame-game politics and politics based on defamation. People repeatedly spoke about the absence of a Director General of Police (DGP). They kept saying it until they were exhausted. It is only under our government that a DGP has now been appointed. Drug abuse has increased. Who is responsible for that? Under whose control was the police department? Why was it not brought under control? The answer is known to their own conscience. In a democracy, questions can be raised in the Legislative Assembly. This is not a monarchy; it is a people's government. Everyone should understand that and speak in a balanced and fair manner. If administrative efficiency means intimidating people, silencing them, and engaging in corruption, then our government will certainly not do that. Information is emerging one by one regarding party funds connected to TASMAC. We are ensuring that the money reaches the state treasury..." (Source: State Assembly)

Today, on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking - 2026, I had the honour of inaugurating the Anti-Drug Awareness Week organised by the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate at the ICCC, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The fight against drugs is not just a police priority it is a societal responsibility. I want to be very clear, the deadline is now. I have asked every officer, from Home Guard level to DGP, to remain committed to this fight so that our own children do not fall prey to it. What was once a transit point for drug trafficking has now become a consumption zone. Post-COVID, drug consumption has risen in both urban and rural areas. Our children are being targeted traffickers are going as far as mixing narcotics in chocolates and biscuits to hook young minds. This is nothing short of an anti-national activity. This is more dangerous than terrorism or Naxalism today and we must treat it with the same urgency. If there is no demand, there will be no supply. Reducing demand is our collective responsibility. I took an oath today along with my officers and the students present eradicating drugs is our priority, and EAGLE Force is in full action. We are working in close coordination with the School Education Department, DRI, Enforcement Directorate, and Customs to tackle this at every level. The Education Department has been asked to establish Anti-Drug Safety Clubs in every educational institution. Schools that fail to comply will risk losing their recognition. I urge every parent to monitor their children closely, and appeal to families and society to help rehabilitate addicts through de-addiction centres. Keeping our youth away from drugs is the foundation for a golden future of our nation. Together, we will build a drug-free Telangana. #EAGLEForce #AntiDrugAwarenessWeek #DrugFreeTelangana #TelanganaPolice #NashaMuktBharat

YOKO ONO: ONOCHORD, VENICE, 2004 Yoko: The world is divided in two industries. One is the War Industry and the other is the Peace Industry. The people in the War Industry are totally together. They don't have to talk to each other, even. They know exactly what they want to do. They want to go out there, kill and make money. But the people in the Peace Industry, which are us - we are so idealistic that each one of us criticises the other Peace Person in the Peace Industry. And we are always just arguing and we are wasting our energies doing that. So let's just forgive each other and see that we are in the Peace Industry and that's all that counts. Even if you are not marching for peace, just be yourself, being a florist, being a merchant, being a talior, anything. That way you're contributing to the Peace Industry. People are just concentrating on fear, confusion and anger. And therefore just for a moment, I'd like us to think about Love. In a very magical, straight way, John and I met in London and from then on we stood for Peace and Love. And when I do this kind of event. Well it is... I was inspired to do it, but I still think that I'm still with John in spirit. John and I created the country called Nutopia. Not Utopia, because there was Utopia as a concept already. And we wanted to create a new concept, so we just added N on it - Nutopia - and as a country. Well, that is the concept of a country. And we all are citizens of that country. And in my apartment in the Dakota Building, we put a little plaque on the back door, the kitchen door. It says 'Nutopian Embassy' and even now we have that. (laughs). Nutopia exists in our minds. And because of that, some people want to rebel against it. The reason some want to rebel against it is a good proof that it exists. I think that it was a terrible thing that happened in Chechnya. But we have to still keep our hopes up. And instead of giving up, we have to keep on sending the message of Love to each other. You say that I am the Ambassador of Peace. We are all Ambassadors of Peace. You are too. Everybody in this room are Ambassadors of Peace. Just the fact that we are not participating in War. The fact that we are here, and we are what we are, means that we are in the Peace Industry. All of us. John and I used to say that our apartment in the Dakota is a conceptual monastry, just for the two of us. And when we go out of the Dakota, we get so many people communicating with us, so it's very important that we had silence and quietness. And my apartment is a very small space compared to the world. And I need that for my peace of mind. You should be kind to each other. You should come together, hug each other, love each other, express our love to each other and we should make it work. We should finally create a world that is a totally an Earth for Us. So let's do it. Yoko Ono, OpenAsia Press Conference, whilst exhibiting Onochord, 2004 by Yoko Ono (Nutopia) at the Venice Biennale: OpenAsia 2004, Lido Di Venezia, Venice, Italy, 9 September 2004.

“The war did not change Russia. It revealed Russia.” - Rihards Kols Rihards Kols, Latvian Member of the European Parliament, speaking at the #RigaConf2026 plenary session "Preparing for Russia Remade by War". “It is important correction we need to make in this room. The war did not change Russia. It revealed Russia. And this is precisely, and I will reiterate, that for years some of us in this region said this plainly, and we were told that we are exaggerating. There are some who are still saying that the Baltics, our region, we are exaggerating, that we were prisoners of our own history. So the war did not create new Russia. It stripped away the excuses that let people pretend the old one was becoming something else. And that is something being spread across Europe. Already was mentioned the dynamics on day to day. What is the changing on the war efforts, war economy? And obviously we can reiterate the numbers. Obviously the Russia today spends roughly 7 to 8% of GDP and roughly 40% of federal budget expenditure on defense and security. And it is the highest share since the Soviet collapse. And that should be noted. But on top of that, which is more alarming, is that church, state media, education curricula, industry, the courts have all been folded into a single machine whose output is the war effort. And that has to be registered. And really, do not make no mistake. That is not wartime mobilisation in the sense we understand in democracy, when we speak about a temporary redirection of resources toward an external goal. It is the opposite. The war has become the organising principle of the state itself, and the state has organised everything else around sustaining it. So I want to be really blunt, because I think this room can handle it from seeing familiar faces. Russia is not a state that happens to be run by a strong man who came out of the KGB. Russia is a state built and operated by security services, for security services as a permanent condition. putin is not aberration sitting on top of normal state apparatus. He is the product of the apparatus, and so is whoever comes after him. We, we ask often and in this format as well, in previous years, what happens after putin? We are asking the wrong question. The right question is what happens to the system whose entire logic is a threat detection, repression, and control regardless of who occupies the top chair. Individuals do leave voluntarily or through windows or having too much tea. The services, the networks, the operating logic, they remain. And there is a comfortable story in the Western capitals that ordinary Russians are quietly against this war, that repression is holding back at Latin majority that would choose differently if only given a chance. I do not believe that, and frankly the evidence does not support it. If there were a real organised majority demand for change inside Russia, we would see it. Not because Russians are uniquely passive, history proves the opposite when the conditions are right. But because when a majority generally wants a change, it finds a way to make that one visible, costly to ignore, and difficult to suppress indefinitely. So the simple, uncomfortable logic conclusion is this. The absence of visible mass demand for change is itself the evidence. Passive discontent that never translates into political consequence is not resistance, it is accommodation. And there is the line I want people to sit with. You cannot wake up someone who is only pretending to be asleep. A society that quietly benefits from empire, that quietly enjoys the mobilisation of victimhood and grievance the Kremlin sells it, does not need waking. It needs to be confronted with costs it cannot ignore.” 1/2
