Not many remember but 5 years ago I started working on my FAST video rendering framework. I have never released it but when I've seen that people wait 12 hours I realized that I have to do it now Introducing fframes. This video was vibed in 48 minutes and... show more

The reason why I didn't release it cause the API of the framework is so complicated and verbose that noone will ever learn it to get it right. Today AI can just do it for you, just give it a skill and describe what video do you want. oh and sub on twitter @fframes_rust

Dis shit was the reason I started following you in 2021!

and now we are beft fwiends 🥺

Wow, I like it. Thank you!

Congrats on the release!

Congratulations to you too!

I'm afraid the docs are currently broken due to not being able to pull ffmpeg from github. Seems the sandbox does not allow internet access [INFO] [stderr] fatal: unable to access ' Could not resolve host: Seems sets DOCS_RS env var and you should skip the downloads if it's detected

Will fix, sorry about that!

Very fast amazing work , quick smoke test took about two min on CPU

Very cool result! Wondering how much it wall take on gpu backend?

hey dmitriy !! sorry about late response , wanted to try it on 3060 but soo many projects ; 7700 5× GPU 30s bench finished — all on Q:, all PASS. Times: 12.15, 12.87, 12.38, 12.44, 12.63 s (mean 12.49; min 12.15; max 12.87). Each file is 30.000 s / 900 frames / ~14.1 MB under Q:\dev\fframes-smoke-vulkan\bench\ Resources (follow-up sampler): peak process working set ~5.9 GB, peak GPU dedicated memory ~4.0 GB, system still had ~74 GB available. Hashes differed run-to-run (normal for libx264). ~12s on gpu vs ~120sec cpu ; awesome!!!!

So cool. Where's the source code for this video?

We should just budget tokens by IQ so we get more good things like this instead of slop cannons everywhere

Is this general purpose (headless AE/Premiere) or only motion graphics?

You can do whatever you want, tho actually editing hour video might be long-ish Motion graphic is where it shines

You know I have been working on a tool that does this with Remotion. Wasn't sure how it would work with FFrames. Might hook FFrames up to it tho. :3

Can you explain what’s a video rendering framework? I understand it outputs video, but what’s the input?

Code, graphics, images, audio, SVG as a primary markup format.

your website links to this x account instead of the correct one. just a heads-up.

I'm not sure we need these anymore... clankers seem capable of doing it without it now, especially opus 5.5. This was astra, with zero input other than 'make a motion graphic video'.

I LOVE your work brother. Absolutely killing it.

It Seems like youre working on the Codex CLI (Srry for Hijacking post!) When Codex Shows the Line updates on the tail, It should show the total line count of the file its editing so you can keep track of file sizes as a project grows.

super cool!

Thanks for sharing bruv

Naive question: should I use this instead of ffmpeg?

ffmpeg project is an abstraction over a ton of different encoders/decoders and a CLI to work with them fframes is a framework for rendering video frames. It is using ffmpeg abstraction over encoder to encode video but doesn’t use CLI. You can try to avoid using ffmpeg CLI with frames but you anyway gonna keep using ffmpeg

Nice, congratulations! Unfortunately it seems docs are unavailable.

hey i know that guy

no flake.nix sir, like fff.nvim?

Ooooh my god this is exactly what I just needed

It's it necessary to store 360 PNG images in that repo ( It makes the repository so large.

That’s true, I’ll clean it up

so it was you!

Congrats!

I'll def. take a look at this.

36 seconds is compelling but peak memory decides whether fframes survives production workloads

It almost seems like you knew, back then, that agentic AI would step in a couple of years later.

claude made this video in 5 minutes. Why do I need this framework?

on what GPU?

that's amazing
