Eagles vs Patriots Day 2 Win/Loss Verdict: The Eagles bounce back and WIN Day 2 This was a win that came from the attitude they showed up to practice with. Coming off of a loss on Day 1 they clearly were ready to play better on Day 2. The defense huddled up before they took the field and then went out and made some huge plays to win the day The first big play was by Tariq Woolen, who was the MVP of the day. Woolen picked off Drake Maye in the front corner of the end zone on a pass intended for AJ Brown. Then, after a near TD to Hollywood Brown, Hurts found Brown on the next play in the back of the end zone for the TD, cementing the win for the Eagles Both teams had to their moments on Day 2 but the Eagles winning the end of the day is why they walked away with the win

Eagles vs Patriots: Day 1 Win/Loss Verdict Day 1 was everything joint practices are supposed to be — intense practice with lots of competitive reps What was surprising was how the Eagles defense/secondary struggled Obviously all of these things are true: There is no hitting the QB, no game planning, etc etc. But it was a bit shocking how well the Patriots passed the ball against the Eagles. AJ Brown had 6 catches including three over 20 yards. One was a down the sideline completion for probably 30+ yards. Romeo Doubs also had a good day including a deep pass down the left sideline over Woolen, who had a rough day. Overall Drake Maye was 21/25, a sign of just how much success he had vs the Eagles defense On offense the most encouraging part was the Eagles ran the ball really well. They created some huge holes and in a real game likely had some big gains. Considering how much the running game struggled last season it was a big positive how good the running game looked vs the Patriots. The passing game wasn’t as good. They did have two big gains — one to Elijah Moore on a deep pass and one to Will Shipley on a wheel route. Outside of that, however, they didn’t get much going without Devonta Smith doing team reps. Jalen Hurts had 3 interceptions (all in 7v7), which is a very high number for him. This practice was decided at the end in the biggest reps of the day. The Patriots offense drove into Eagles territory and got a field foal. The Eagles offense had a tough time moving the ball and didn’t get a field goal. Overall this was a close practice until the end but the Patriots get the win.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: The triangle offense was basketball with PURPOSE, the Bulls and Lakers had counters to everything the defense did. It was a game of chess for them. But this type of offense sacrifices stats for Kobe and Jordan since they are not creating all the plays and getting assists. Even though it’s their amazing scoring threat that directly opens up all the shots for everyone else, it didn’t show up on the boxscore. To the untrained eye who just looks at the boxscore, it will make you think LeBron is an AMAZING playmaker, but in reality Bron has never played in a true system. He has been the system, because thats the only way he knows how to play. He plays ACCIDENTAL basketball and drives and kicks all game to rack up assists. But this is not WINNING basketball. It is very predictable and usually results in Bron getting locked up come playoff time. This type of basketball is low level hoops, kids in the playgrounds play like that. So next time some idiot on this app says, “Jordan and Kobe were not good playmakers”- show them this video. If Kobe and Jordan had the ball on top of the 3 EVERY possession and drove and kicked all game they would average a triple double. But they wouldn’t win.. They chose winning over cheap stat padding ✌🏻

This team was down by 7 runs in the last inning. They made a comeback and scored the winning run by this young man stealing home. 👏 This is why as a catcher, you never throw the ball back to the pitcher from your knees with runners on base. You always stand and take a look at the runner, ESPECIALLY with a runner on third and in this scenario, the game winning run. That’s poor coaching imho. It’s the little fundamentals that are coached in practice that add up to whether a team is prepared or not for the games. Where was the coach telling his catcher to keep an eye on the runner at third?

Lost in all the chaos of yesterday’s comeback is just how clutch Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense were on that final drive. Because of an unsportsmanlike penalty, the offense had to start at their own 9 yard line. That meant 89 yards to go and instead of folding, Hurts and the offense put together their best drive of the season. 100 Memorable Plays from Wins of the Mike Gundy Era #8- 2009 vs Georgia in Boone Pickens Stadium. A couple of minutes before the half and on a 2nd an 7, Zac Robinson throws a deep shot to Dez Bryant who is able to catch up to the throw and makes a diving catch in the end zone to tie the game. Another moment that resulted in an iconic photo for Oklahoma State. Dez’s stat line was 3 receptions for 77 yards with 2 TDs in this game. Not too bad! The Cowboys won the game 24-10.

Sometimes I like to look at a player’s “worst game of the year” to see how bad it was (or wasn’t). For WR Caleb Douglas (according to PFF) that was the Arizona State game where he matched up with Keith Abney (R5) all day. This was a good battle between Douglas and Abney. But considering it was supposed to be Douglas’s worst outing, it wasn’t all that bad. Texas Tech lost, despite coming back from a 12 point deficit in the final 6 or 7 minutes to take a 3 point lead, after a successful 2-point conversion made possible by Douglas drawing a hold in the end zone on the first 2-point attempt. Sam Leavitt and Jordyn Tyson worked their magic to go all the way down the field in the final minute and not just kick a tying FG, but actually score the go-ahead TD, leaving Texas Tech attempting a Hail Mary as the clock ran out. Things I noticed during the game: - The backup QB Will Hammond playing in place of Behren Morton had some issues with timing and ball placement. A couple of targets Douglas was open, Hammond missed him. Another one, instead of throwing the vertical Hammond patted the ball an extra beat and it threw off the timing. - I loved Caleb Douglas’s willingness to try and make a difference as a blocker. He got nasty with it. - Caleb had a bad drop. Abney got in there and contacted him and Douglas failed to put the ball away. But it’s interesting because Caleb also had one of the most impressive one-handed stabs you’ll see, on a play nobody noticed or cared about because it was a screen that didn’t break open. - On a lot of plays, if there wasn’t safety help, there was an egregious amount of cushion. This is something you see in a lot of Tech’s games. People had been trying, and frankly failing, to triangulate Douglas’s long speed, to where his 4.39 came as a surprise to some. And then when they’re wrong, the same tired excuse comes out, “He doesn’t play to his timed speed.” But the signs were always there. You had safeties stashed way out in the middle of nowhere to protect corners. You had corners giving 10-12 yards of cushion. - There was a lull where either the ball wasn’t coming Douglas’s way or it was inaccurate when it did, and it lasted nearly half the game. So I was looking for signs of Douglas checking out with his route running. That didn’t happen. He ran his routes hard the entire game. - Douglas dialed it up a notch during the comeback attempt at the end, particularly after the drop. He got wide open on a 3rd down vertical vs. physical coverage with no safety help over top (surviving an unflagged face mask in the process). Then he got open in the end zone twice, one of which forced a hold by Abney that did get flagged. I think the takeaway from me was, you’re playing against a good corner, you have a backup QB in, things don’t go well for you nor the offense for most of the game, but you stay locked in and make a difference at the end, mounting an unlikely comeback. I can see why Jon-Eric Sullivan would like his demeanor.

The #Eagles, and you honestly have to admit, were fortunate to win the game against the #LARams. The Eagles blocked two field goals and the final one was at the end of the game, which turned a loss into a win, combined with the fact that #JordanDavis picked it up and ran it for a touchdown to end the game. As an aside, it was a big play for the betters in changing the outcome because Davis didn’t just fall on the ball- he scored a touchdown

As a former NFL Scout, I’ve watched Shedeur Sanders in these three games against the Ravens, Raiders, and 49ers, and it doesn’t look like he belongs in the NFL. It became obvious in the 4th quarter against the 49ers, when he was put in a situation of needing to make plays (down 23-8 with 11:00 minutes to go) and the game looked too big for him. What do I mean by that? • He tended to hold the ball too long • He tended to choose to throw to the most conservative (short) option —tended to make the most conservative throwing decisions (his throwing decisions did not match the game situation). He seemed more concerned about creating and protecting his stats rather than trying to aggressively attack downfield and put his team in a position to win. He had one intermediate passing attempt (11-yard gain to Jerry Jeudy) and one deep passing attempt (Isaiah Bond incomplete) in the field of play during the 4th quarter. • It did not look like he was seeing the field well. Then on that last drive —Sanders put himself in that 4th and 26. He created that situation by taking an 11-yard sack on 2nd and 10 instead of throwing to an open underneath receiver in his line of vision on the play. Then to make things worse a couple plays later on that 4th and 26—he quit. FILM CREDIT

I love that the problem everyone has with the tush push this week, has absolutely nothing to do with the actually pushing portion. Like banning the tush push doesn’t even stop what they have an issue with from the play this last week. The Eagles still could have done exactly what they did last week with it being a regular QB sneak. Officials being more stringent on players aligning in the neutral zone and false starts is the only way to stop what everyone has an issue with. And I get it, there were at last a couple from the game that were too early, and should be called false starts. It is an extremely hard thing to officiate, and good players on both sides of the ball jump the snap and use the neutral zone to their advantage on multiple downs and plays throughout the game. Getting rid of the tush push will not stop the issue everyone is riled up about.

This was Brock Purdy's best game. Not from a box score standpoint, but he ran out of countless sacks and bailed the offense out on third down numerous times. Some of his best decisions were throwaways. He had 7 throwaways in the game, matching his season total. It wasn't a great game for the 49ers WRs or the running game. That meant Purdy would need to make plays while playing within himself on obvious passing downs. He did. On 3rd & 5 or longer, from the two-minute drill on, Purdy went 6-for-8 with five first downs and a TD in a windy road game vs. a top 5 passing defense. Here are 5 of those third down throws. Quality bounce back after last week.

But he definitely showed enough things to have us excited to see what he can do moving forward with some actual practice and preparation. "We're asking this guy to lead a game-winning drive against the Ravens, and he's got to throw a pass up to Gage Larvadain. And that guy wasn't even on the active roster for the first month."

Mike Tomlin’s most underrated moment? I’m not sure if a lot of people remember this but when Mike Tomlin was a rookie head coach he was so obsessed with practice that he nearly doubled the amount of two-a-days that the Steelers usually had. Ed Bouchette even did an entire piece on this at the time. It was also one of the longest training camps the Steelers had. But after the team faded at the end of 2007, Tomlin blamed himself when most head coaches would likely stay the course and force his players to get used the rigorous schedule. For any fans of Steelers history, staying such a course would likely bring to mind Bill Austin. But Tomlin did what Austin didn’t. He changed his practice schedule. Changed how he approached training camp. Changed what he personally focused on during practice. If you recall, he focused an unnatural length of time on special teams during his 2007 practices but, in 2008, he learned to trust his ST coach. He reduced the amount of two-a-days and went from one of the team’s longest training camps in 2007 to one of their shortest in 2008. And the Steelers won the Super Bowl that year. ⬇️ They touched on this in America’s Game.

Game Speed Layups With The Kentucky Drill Layups can make or break a game. The problem is that in practice sometimes players don’t go full speed when doing their layups. Ryan Fox says the way he played the final hole to win The Open with a birdie was the best hole he’s ever played in his life. He also said he told his caddie on the tee he was going to take it on and try to win the tournament right there: “Yeah, definitely the first part. I mean, I hit two shots exactly how I wanted to hit them. I didn't feel anything for the putt; everything was shaking that much. I was just happy to hit it somewhat near the hole, and to see it go in was incredible. “I did say to my caddie, Dean, on the tee that we were going to take it on, that I was going to try to win the tournament, and I'd live with the consequences if I stuffed it up. To go out there and execute, that drive is not a very comfortable tee shot, obviously, and to hit it in the fairway and give myself a chance was huge. “Then I landed on a good number. I think I had 160 metres to the hole. The breeze was a little down off the left. Obviously everything is a bit jammed up there, so it was just a solid 9, and I hit it exactly where I wanted to hit it. I think I screamed to it, "Please be good," in the air, and it was. “To cap it off with a putt -- everyone practises on the green, I guess, you've got to a putt to win a major championship, to win The Open. It's not like that in real life. It's not a very comfortable feeling. We ran the ball pretty good yesterday but there was more hay to be had. Gainwell has been a godsend for this team and offense. All he does is produce, but he missed one here on the first run play of the game. This is an example of how an OL can block something up as intended, and it still not get the yardage it should, due to timing and patience. It got better as the game went on. Importance of sticking with the run…especially in December/January. #HereWeGo
