Nine years ago, S Anitha became the first victim of NEET in Tamil Nadu, and one of the most prominent faces of Tamil Nadu’s fight against NEET. In 2017, the 17-year-old from Ariyalur had scored 1,176 out of 1,200 marks in her Class 12 Tamil Nadu State Board exams. Her medical cut-off score was 196.75 out of 200 — marks that would have placed her among medical aspirants under Tamil Nadu’s earlier admission system. But that year, NEET became mandatory for medical admissions. Anitha, who had prepared through the state-board syllabus, could not secure a medical seat through the national entrance exam. She became one of the earliest voices opposing NEET in Tamil Nadu, arguing that a common entrance test would disadvantage students from rural areas, government schools and marginalised communities. Anitha’s brother S. Manirathnam, who has now joined the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in Delhi, says her fight was deeply personal. He says Anitha was raised by their father, a daily wage labourer, after their mother died when she was seven. He recalls that Anitha wanted to become a doctor because their mother’s death due to an illness had shaped her dream of entering medicine. “She wanted to become a doctor because she had seen the suffering caused by the lack of medical care,” Manirathnam said, recalling his sister’s journey. Anitha joined the legal battle against NEET and became one of the petitioners before the Supreme Court, seeking relief for Tamil Nadu students. The Court did not grant the exemption sought by the state, and days later, on 1 September 2017, Anitha died by suicide at her home in Ariyalur. Speaking about the impact of NEET on his family, Manirathnam said, “NEET has destroyed my family.” Years later, he has joined the CJP protest, saying Tamil Nadu’s opposition to NEET began with students like Anitha, who questioned whether a single national entrance exam could account for the inequalities faced by students across the country. Eshwar reports.

Just focus on the barrel and its direction in this video (not my daughter's play room). Jimmy Rollins once told me that hitting was all about angles and that sage advice changed my view of hitting in a couple ways. 1. Use the barrel in a way that dictates contact and point of contact. 2. Direct the barrel in a way that gives the eyes a clear view of that approach to the zone. Like looking down the sights of a rifle (in a video game of course), you wouldn't aim with it on your hip or behind your body. You'd look down the sights for optimal accuracy. Making contact out front doesn't mean I'm pulling everything if I can control the angle of the barrel with my hands. I'm trying to give myself room for error along the pitch plane I've identified. Not hit all pitches with the same swing/stroke. The hands are amazing at using tools and making minute adjustments with the right vantage point. Most hitters have heard, "let it get deep". While great advice, it can also create problems, especially if taken to an extreme. Good things happen out front. It's the same logic for why when we bunt, we want the barrel in front of our eyes and not behind them. We can gauge the pitch angle and put the bat at the right spot to make contact. There's plenty of ways to hit. This is how I (and a lot of my former teammates) tried to do it. Thanks for checking me out!

Bendadonnn had a few words for WooLady after she brought his name up and accused him of snitching on Tatiana Channel to Boston Richey. In her live WooLady claimed Tatiana and Boston would still be together if it wasn’t for Bendadonnn getting involved. ✍🏽: #TSRStaffKH

The star of the day for me was this woman, who stood with the national flag held high for over 5 hours in CP. Listen to her articulate her reasons for doing so. Just amazing.

Maybe a hot take, but I think the new all-electric Jaguar Type 01 looks pretty good. Their initial marketing strategy was terrible, but this production version looks good and somewhat cyberpunk like. Now the question is, will anybody buy it. Deliveries start in 2027. $130k starting price. 400-mile EPA range. A lot at stake for Jaguar with this vehicle. It's a make or break moment for them because they've bet the future of the company on this thing.

Sometimes, a people must confront the internal threat posed by traitors and cowards. That’s what this song is about. (ft.Erga Here is our folk rendition of “Les Chacals,” an anonymous French revolutionary song from the 1960s, set to a German melody composed in the aftermath of World War I and inspired by the German Peasants’ War of the 16th century. Our songs are fragments of our history, invisible bonds connecting generations of Europeans who pass them down. As long as they continue to resonate, our memory lives on.
